Best battery hoover

Our battery shark hoover is giving up on us.
Any recommendations for good replacement at reasonable money.
Thanks

Don’t buy a battery one… our Dyson was over £300 and it’s absolutely shite. Stepdaughters £120 plug in one blows (sucks?) it out of water.

When I worked in the charity sector Dyson and Shark were the most commonly donated used vacuum cleaners. Normally because they were fucked.

Would replacing the battery fix it?

Describe what’s happening to it.

Not picking up as well as it did both batteries don’t last long

Have you cleaned the filters?

Not yet. I might try some service work first and see if it gets better. It must be 8 years old now so figure it’s close to dying

100% the filters. Clean or preferably replace ALL of them - you can get cheapo replacements from Amazon. You’ll find them quite disgusting as they are extremely efficient at their job.

And clean the rollers

We had a Dyson Battery one, after years it was shot. Bought a Bosch one which was not great. Changed the filter, clean out with an air compressor and a new battery in the Dyson and it’s perfect again.
Certainly look at that before buying a new one.

If it’s truly fucked I’d be tempted by one of the Numatic/Henry ones just as they are a decent British company.

I understand you can “fix” the batteries by dismantling and replacing the cells on some of these, not sure about the shark you have but with a dremmel and glue to hand it’s worth a look plus new filters before you bin it

Just took it all apart and cleaned it
There was a bit of a blockage I cleared and I’ve ordered new filters.
If that works great if not the search continues

Mark has likely nailed it - amazed you’ve never had to clean the filters, the shitty fucking Vax we have need cleaning often - performance drops off a cliff after the first few uses post-clean, and tho’ the main filter is washable, it takes forever to dry.

Similalrly if you have a pickup head with rotating brush - those damned things need clearing every 2-3 uses, especially if you have pets and people with long hair. Yuk. Hate that job!

And 50% of the batteries died just after the warranty period

tl;dr - Vax are shit, don’t buy them.

You’d be amazed at how many hoovers of all sorts are dumped at our charity shop. PAT test, good clean and out they go.

We had a Dyson. It was OK, but the fucking battery needed replacing every 2-3 years at a cost of about ÂŁ70. There are 3rd party alternatives (batteries), but they are shit.

Yes, keep an eye on the filters - they do do need to be clean.

Our solution was to replace our big Dyson with a Henry, and the battery Dyson with a shark (mains powered).

We realised quite quickly that our use case scenario didn’t require a battery option, and the convenience of the latter is more than outweighed by the ongoing costs.

Oh, and mains power gives you better suction, too.

YMMV, of course.

Chuffing dog has worked out how to activate it with his nose and then chases the bloody thing around.

It is good though, the roomba does the hoovering 3 times a week then I just go round with the cordless dyson picking up the bits from the endless amount of things the dog has chewed.
