I imagine there’ll be plenty of Japanese companies happy to re-locate back to Japan or indeed to lower cost regions elsewhere given that they can ship goods into the EU tariff free.

I dare say you’re correct about Honda, however they (japanese car companies) can now manufacture in Japan and export to the EU with the new trade agreement. Theres no need to relocate to within the EU.
Brexit will be used to justify every shitty decision for the forseable future and bring forward things that may have been in the ballance.
