Let 'em rust.
Job number 1 for 2020 - Headlight polishing faf…
The top area of the BMW’s 18yr old glass is (was) scratched and yellowed, nothing too horrendous but significant enough to be easily noticed as they’re below par in comparison to the general condition of the car.
Autoglym’s light restoration kit is reasonable value for around £20.

I find the most abrasive 800 grit pads in the kit a bit lame, it’s a little too easy to overheat them on a drill. I use a wet 'n dry paper and a sanding block, starting at 600, then 800, 1000, 1200.
The 1500 autoglym disc is ok at this point, their 2000 and 3000 pads are very worthwhile as is the polishing pad and compound.
3+ layers of masking tape
Requires nerves of steel, there’s no going back…

End result - happy with that.

Doing this obviously removes any UV protective coatings on the glass. To help prevent yellowing recurring a new coating must be applied.
This is good value and does the job.
Look out for the next installment of old BMW detailing faf…
Nice work. I’ll probably have to do the 911 at some point.
I did similar but with t cut when it was failed on the mot
Thanks, make sure you have a stool or chair, it is a back breaking job, esp on a low car.
I used Brasso on FoL2’s old Yaris. Had a tin from ages ago and it did the job.
Bet the bonnet came up lovely.
Ha!, only the headlight covers
I washed the Audi earlier. It hadn’t been washed since September and was black.
My pressure washer had a leak so was of limited use. I used Tardis and Korosol before putting on Finish Kare 1000 paste wax and another layer of their carnauba paste wax.
Confessions of an Audicunt A5 owner
It’s my wife’s!
Oh dear that probably makes you lapdog of an Audicunt then🤣
It’s a petrol Quattro, which makes all the difference.
Jesus. That’s revolting.
And yet Audi take such responses as encouragement. Beats me…
Does that one have both the supercharger and turdo?
It doesn’t feel like it
