Kondo-san is dead, Masaki-san now runs Kondo
Try a single ESL57 at the same location as the cello. Unlike the cello it may really only work if you’re sitting directly in front of it. But if you are then they can be very convincing indeed at replicating a single instrument.
VB
Poor joke on my part, it was one of the Japanese guys from the Kondo room.
Any one care to comment on the Falcon LS3/5A clones?
The Falcons were brilliant. Very coherent and surprisingly full sound. I think they may have been better than the Harbeth P3ESRs I used to own.
enjoyed a pleasant couple of hours at the show this morning (we were out to lunch nearby so seemed rude not to) Guys room sounded great and inspired me to get some tapes for my reel to reel which has been sitting idle since I bought it.
Kondo stuff sounded nice but not sure how it would cope with my ACDC days
tannoys were nice too
Best room for me was Guy’s playing the R2R through those HUGE Heco 3-way speakers. I was a bit underwhelmed by the Kondo room; I was expecting more given the cost of the kit.
Me and Steve @rmsshipbroker had that exact conversation, that only something like a single big Quad or maybe Petes @coco WE could get close. It was the sheer depth and vibrancy of literally everything that came out of the instrument that made me doubt that a loudspeaker could achieve the same effect. Of course I’ve not heard a fraction of the higher end stuff that a lot of other meatmen have, so am probably talking bollocks again.
No shit Sherlock.

I have to thank you and Allan @spacehopper for bringing Kralk to my attention, otherwise I might never have bothered with their room.
I always thought my final system would probably be a big old silver 70s Sony amp and a pair of big JBLs, but now I have another option on the speakers, I really liked the TBD-12s
How much are they?
£1200 - 1300 depending on finish, including stands.
Great day out, nice to catch up with some of you .
Yeah, it was nice to catch up with you and your dad, and @Spider and Mrs Spider, @octh, @rmsshipbroker, @stu, @murrayjohnson, & @Mickyricky. Bumped into Dean @SCIDB too.
Worth every penny. Some were asking if that price was per speaker…
The baby 2’s are amazing vfm and I’m only just getting to know my new 6’s which sound tremendous so I can only imagine how good those are Rob
A few photos from our trip to Cranage. It was great to see lots of you guys there and have a catch up.
My favourite room was Puresound, those big Heco speakers with R2R or Motus were simply brilliant.
The Falcon’s were as good as bookshelf can be, and very nicely made.
Both me and Kate enjoyed both Audio Note rooms.
The Kondo room was not really to my taste, when we went in it was playing typical plink and plonk so I asked them to put my 12 inch Kate Bush single of Moments of Pleasure. They agreed and three guys appeared as if by magic and fussed about while changing the record that was currently playing for mine, each one had a role to play in the changing of the record ritual. He then checked with me for which speed I required before asking for my required volume level. Unfortunately the resulting sound was not what I expected out of a system of this kind of caliber and cost. It clearly finds music that mere mortals might listen to difficult to cope with.
Room 14 was good with Leema amps and pear wood audio turntable and some great little speakers made in Australia.
Kralk was pretty good but a bit loud when we were in there for the size of the room so not sure I heard them at their best.
Most of the other rooms have blurred into one.
