As a nation that goes to the 9th degree, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone wax lyrical about Japanese Chips? When ever I’ve eaten chips in SE Asia the potatoes have been distinctly underwhelming .

If you are not a bloated, dyspeptic whose ancestors felt at home wading thru the sleet-stippled mudlands of northern Europe, you have no place in the World of Stodge. Thus SE Asia - and especially Japan* - should stay the hell away from chips and stick to making exquisitely delicious and diverse foods that are also downright life-enhancing and healthy.

Leave the whole suicide-by-food thing to us whey-faced roundeyes, thank-you-very-much!

Yes. And it’s taken a great deal of counselling to reach that stage :+1:

Haha. I may have, uh, on occasion, ah, dipped “French fries” in, um, a milkshake (usually strawberry).

Excused, provided drugs were involved…

ALL the drugs.

Drugs? You must have me confused with someone else mate :upside_down_face:

Side note - the fries are only dipped in the shake if ketchup or gravy haven’t been applied.
I’m not, after all, an animal

Shoving a huge handful in your gob in one go is one of life’s great pleasures .:ok_hand:

I’ll get my coat.:disappointed_relieved:

Anti-foaming agent dextrose – all natural sugar – to make sure that we get a consistent color no matter what time of the year it is,” said Neher, adding that it also puts in sodium acid pyrophosphate to control “graying after freezing.” + a bunch of other stuff.

There’s a lot going on that warrants a head-but here - Ignoring the obvious - Crinkle cut chips give me the conniptions. Even as a child these things just seemed gimmicky

Pretty damn good when done in an air fryer though

This thread is giving me a sad.

Not sure I can contain this level of contempt.

I think you can get good results in an AF, not as good as frying in deep oil but decent. Crinkle cutter works really well, as does soaking the uncooked chips in hot water for 10-15 mins and then a first go in the AF at a low temp, and then a second at highest heat to crisp them. Its also worth experimenting with different oil sprays too.

Where do you stand on curly fries?

Can be a bit soggy but the seasoning is nice

Ooh might have curly fries, turkey twizzlers and bernard matthews drummers for lunch

You could at least look up the UK ingredients.

Curl is to chips as icing is to bakewell or mince pie.

Fantastic - a delicious plate of deep fried pig cocks :ok_hand:
