Wow that brought memories. My dad had that book. Wasn’t there a tv series ?
I like the way it will split between all tickets
Lottery La Lopwell = No holes barred winner takes top prize grudge fest.
Tickets will be available one week prior to the event - All profits go to the emaciated coffers of the electronic portaloo known as AA.
Excellent!
I’m currently obsessed with Gridfinity. It was in some ways the way I justified the new 3d printer to Claire - we could organise her office/art room drawers:
But what I am into at the moment are toolboxes:
So to explain…
Gridfinity is an open system for designing modular storage. It’s based on a 42mm grid; you print a base plate to go inside a drawer, say, and then the bins to populate it. There are a lot of parameters - the bins above have a variety of choices around stacking lip, labels and finger scoops as required. There are many more: there is even a program that takes a phone photo and creates a cut-out of whatever is in the photo, so your tools can have a perfectly snug casing.
The black toolboxes are also Gridfinity. You choose the size (in the 42mm units), and then print them, together with the clips and handles. They stack and clip together. Sadly I’m limited to 5x5 by my printer; I chose 5x4 as I thought it looked better.
What this enables me to do is to create a toolbox that actually works for what I need. The one shown has my stud finder, laser level, DuoPower plugs, drywall plugs and impact driver bits (for the latter, I have the most used ones on the top tray, and all the others in deeper bins beneath it). This then is my toolbox for mounting stuff onto walls. It’s clipped together with the drill bit box.
This means that the various storage systems that I have throughout my basement will all get consolidated, over the next few months. It’s always annoyed me that everything has been in its own box that never fits with any other boxes; this annoyance is coming to an end.
The cost is fairly low: each black box is about a fiver in filament. I’ve bought M3 40mm and 55mm machine screws, as they’re used for the clips and hinges; a tenner on those will do over a dozen boxes. (That said I have just ordered a £100 label printer…)
And it’s quite fun thinking about how to organise things in a logical way, making it usage-based rather than simply putting like things together, if that makes sense. I can demote rarely used things like hole saws, Forstner bits and the like so I’m not carrying them with my much more used items.
And so much expansion room!
How’d you mean?
I’ve had a 3d printer since Xmas it spend a month out of commission as I did something stupid, clogged the extruder and then fucked the extruder trying to fix it.
After getting a replacement part it’s now fixed and running.
I’ve printed a fair few things but this example of modern advertising / marketing from the recent ‘project hail Mary’ (good film)
And today’s collision of hobbies to create more room for moar Lego. A modular speed champions storage solution
I’m really enjoying it.
I now need to get my head around 3d modelling again so I can crate some ideas I have…
It’s great fun.
I have thought of this type of malarky - Only to discount it. Like our drawers it often gravitates to throw anything in there compartments - Then you have 50 boxes to look in to find something. Then you are staring at jaunty angles.
For important stuff I’m in favor of on show to see - enter my solution 450mm long flexible magnetic strips about £3 a strip
Do like the Rawl plugs
I think the main thing for me is to simplify what I have and use, and to have just that easily accessible, with the “occasional” stuff in a secondary place and the “never” stuff in the bin!
Would any of you 3d printing chaps be able to print me a few of these for my Sound Organisation stand?
TIA ![]()
yep no problem - can you do a quick drawing ?
and measure the size of inside of tube it fits in
ebay “bar end plugs”?
I remember them being square? - or is this for a wall mount screw hole cover?
Any event happy to print it
He needs to 3d print a dustpan and brush for you first.
