Computer games and that

Probably s/vhs over scart, or just composite

Just composite from the number of pins in the connector from what I can see, so it must be mains cable foo in the mancave system creating the clarity or something like that.

Must be a lucky picture? Unless you have an RGB machine? I’ve only ever seen Jap or AV modded machines look anywhere near sharp on an LCD.

Now introducing nephew to this delight

That’s a pretty rare game nowadays Ā£80+

Looks like composite dot crawl.

Witcher 3 looks significantly better on the playstation and that’s ā€˜just’ the PS4 version. It was on sale for 7 quid…couldn’t resist.

I’m new to the playstation thing. Any game recommendations? I’ll prob get a PS+ subscription soon.

So far I have The Pathless, Doom Eternal, Witcher 3 and Borderlands 3.

Last of us, Resident Evil for starters.

God of War (it has a fantastic graphics uplift).

A lot of the ps4 classics now have free upgrades to enhance the graphics and make use of the haptic controls.
Few true ps5 games yet that I can recommend.

I’ve got a few I could loan out. I once offered but there was little interest. Idea was to swap a few games and send them back once done.

Wonderful story arc. Need to get a life again now!

Just about to pull the trigger on a new pc. Last one is 4 years old now, and not up to stuff I want to play, particularly the new MS flight sim, and Red Dead Redemption. Looking at two models Scan have for delivery( ( hopefully ) in a couple of weeks.

First one is AMD 5800X plus a Nvidia 3060 graphics card, the second is same processor but 3070 card. But it’s 400 quid more, and I am unsure whether the extra cash will make that much of a difference. Anyone have any experience with similar machines & thoughts as to whether it’s worth stumping up the extra dosh?

If you are going to be flight simming, Stu, I would be cranking out the best gfx card you can smuggle past the missus. Subject to you having the monitor now/soon to take advantage of it.

I have a 5800X/RTX3070. Flightsim is ok on the monitor, just about fine in VR. (Not 4k Though, you want a 3080 for 4k)

Costco have a few in stock:
Stormforce, Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, Gaming Desktop PC | Costco UK
Stormforce, AMD Ryzen 5, 16GB RAM, 480GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, Gaming Desktop PC | Costco UK

If the money is a thing then I might find myself compromising on the CPU for the better GPU. So maybe Ryzen 5 plus 3070 rather than Ryzen 7 plus 3060. CPUs can be upgraded in a few years fairly cheaply (relatively), GPUs less so.

Especially since a lot of the games wont use all the extra cores etc.

It’s weird how prebuilt machines are now the best value compared to building your own.

Cheers guys, some useful pointers. Think I will spend the extra on the 3070. Both machines have only 16gb ram, but I have a spare same speed 16gb I can add when the machine arrives.

Only because of shortages.

I got my 3070 for RRP (£470) the 5800X on an amazon deal (£300) So it was a lot less than £1500-2000.

I did consider building one this time around, but it does seem such a ballache getting the GPU/CPU, so off the shelf it will probably be.

Well it wasn’t, but I got a nice case, 32gb of ram, ALL OF THE SSD and a comedy monitor.
