Grinder Needed! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So my 2nd in as many years Nespresso Machine has gone tits up and I’m done with that :poop::coffee:!
I’ve ordered an Aeropress and am in need of a grinder. I know well the AA mantra of Porlex or go home, but as I’m just gonna be sticking to the one grind (or minor variations around) I wondered if anyone has a suitable capable alternative they might like to part with in exchange for a few quid before I jump in at the last minute and grab a Cyber Monday Porlex bargain?
 :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign:

Have to be be brutally frank - Porlex aren’t very good despite what some of us (mea culpa) thought in 2017. Not even ā€˜for the money’.

Knock Aergrind or something from the 1Zpresso range should be considered minimum standard.

RDT is pretty common for us coffee wankers

Already got me coat :+1:

Have had a little water mist spray bottle next to the scales for over a year. (since I got the Niche)
Use it every time I weigh the beans before grinding.

Water mist makes a huge difference. With the P64 it is worthwhile, with the Niche it was a necessity.

Had to get into the water spray when I got a Niche. I need a quite a fine grind as I use decaf (I know, I know!) and the static issue was ridiculous, the grounds would just stick to the dose cup. A quick squirt of water and that issue goes away.

I connected my Niche to an entreq grounding box and no more static problems.

I brewed the contents of an entreq grounding box in a V60 and no more problems.

You could go full circle and use the cat litter from Kopi Luwak in your Entreq.

This is actually new stuff. Although RDT is well known and has been around for some time to reduce static while grinding, this paper describes an effect where much higher TDS is achieved by really heavily spritzing beans before the grind. Coffee forums/discord are losing their shit over this. There’s a Hoffman video coming out in the next couple of days.

I take it back then @Mrs_Maureen_OPinion

Excited for the video, I have basically drowned my beans for a pour over, compared to the usual spritz. Update when I have made it

There’s a Lance video out already if you cannot wait.

Oh right on cue, just out
