Pope trying to replicate Crawley’s dismissal
In the pub. Is the Piss Wizard back?
“Out of the 102 innings Zak Crawley has played, he has recorded 42 single-digit scores - the most for a batter since his debut in Test cricket, including 10 ducks.”
That is some delivery to Root.
And apparently a no-ball, that no one realised at the time
Thought they always checked that for EVERY wicket??
I heard it word of mouth, not actually seen anything on Today at the Test or in the commentary feed. It was mentioned to be something about the back foot placement, which is a reason a no-ball can be called, but seems to be very rare (and I guess harder for the umpire to check too).
The video umpire checks every wicket for a no ball.
It’s a mandatory type check. I’d be surprised it was one as it’s not something they’d miss.
If England get a draw out of this test because Shubman Gill decided to bat forever it will be one of greatest ever psyops results of Bazball.
Looking at the state of the weather they might only need to bat half a day.
Pissing down.
Realistically the weather will take away the chance of a win for England
Well done India for getting it over the line,
A test match they absolutely deserved to win.
A bit worrying that their seamers are better with the new ball than ours in English conditions.
Wow. An absolute humping. Good for the series… I fancy the next test to be a belter, India suddenly look in rude health. We have seen this England team recover from a drubbing before though.
I think the batting is fine, despite the return of the piss wizards ( I do love that!)
England’s bowling looks less than top class, though. Tongue bowls too many loose balls and can’t create pressure. Carse is maybe a bit predictable. Woakes was good but unlucky in this match and at 36, will he be able to go again on Thursday? Bashir is being asked to bowl many overs in the first innings. Seemed like India’s battters can just milk him, which suited them fine. They are relentless and insatiable.
Atkinson and Archer in the squad, would England play both of them? Who do they drop? Many questions… It’s a fascinating series!
I think you understate just how not up to standard Bashir is, he’s absolutely useless, and it’s utterly infuriating given he cannot even get regular first team games for Somerset. Why he’s in the squad is a mystery to me.
I think he has potential and is definitely one of Stokes’ projects. A friend of mine, unfairly in my view, suggested earlier that ‘he is no Nathan Lyon.’ I agree, obviously, but the trouble is, there aren’t exactly loads of options, and the way the county cricket season has been fucked about with, not many ways of getting experience. So he is learning in the test arena. Also, the bazzers want to chase, so he is bowling a lot of overs at the wrong end of a game. These wickets are being prepared as flat as possible. I don’t think he is useless, just that he’s having to be the containing bowler on flat pitches. The ball goes soft, Stokes gets into short theory with the seamers, who have to bowl short spells coz its knackering, and they are rotating around Bashir. Who should they pick instead?
I mean, Leach and Vaughan both get picked ahead of him, and Vaughan can also bat from what I can see.
Yes, they get picked at county level, but the England management like Bashir’s attributes, and I must admit, so do I. Tall with a high action. He bowls with a lot of over-spin. He gets loads of revs on the ball which makes it dip late. I think Leach has been unlucky with illness/injury, but also, if I’m honest, he’s a bit one dimensional. Flat through the air, without a lot of variation. His batting isn’t any better than Bash’s either. I doubt he will be back for the Ashes because they relish a bit of Leach bashing, and the harder pitches there will suit Bashir better because he will get more bounce. Rehan Ahmed would be my choice to come in if there is a change, but that Edgbaston pitch would’ve killed him too. Maybe Stokes should review his chase at all costs plan. Yesterday Ravi Jadeja (love him!) Was turning it square out of the cow pats created by the seamers.
This series is going to be a belter by the way. Buckle up! At some point The Piss Wizard will be flaying those cunts to all parts, and I can’t wait for that.
Interesting diversion from the current series: Wiaan Mulder declares 33 short of Brian Lara's iconic Test innings record of 400 - BBC Sport
Declaring on 367no, when it’s only the third time you’ve gotten into triple figures, is quite the move.
No idea who you are talking about so I googled
