Cuntscooters - should they be legal?

Near where I live it seems like every kid has one, and also no idea about how to ride it safely - they ride down the middle of the road and/or meander all over the place. Just last week as I was walking home from the station, two boys, about 14-15, who looked like they were scooting back from school were riding side by side, one on the right side of the road, the other on the wrong side - along a fairly busy road.

I hate driving anywhere near them.

Don’t have a problem with scooters per se, just think there should be a road safety test or something for them. Or XL Bully chase.

Legal? Sure. But legally death race-able and always at fault.
Seriously though, yes, but legislation needs to catch up. Basically treat them like a 50cc moped, helmet, license, insurance etc.

I was driving out of Plymouth today at rush hour & watched a young lad making very good progress across various roads but mostly on the pavement on something like one of these.

Smaller wheel maybe.

It did seem to have the same control system as a Segway in that its driver could lean in a direction & it would go that way. Very clever & impressive to watch. No idea what the range is, he looked like he was coming home from work. I’m all for these kinds of re-chargeable personal transport provided they’re used safely. I’m not sure where something like the above belongs really. Not on the road with the traffic. On the pavement though? Fine when no pedestrians about. And what should the insurance implications be?

Want!

Why didn’t he see it?

Like the message he received from the hire company- you can’t park that there!

VOI do recommend & encourage users to wear helmets. But people aren’t legally obliged to.

Spain has just started a scheme to get them all registered. Then will follow requirements for insurance etc.
