Thanks Bob, appreciated. It ain’t perfect but it’s all my own work
I went into paint it yesterday but I couldn’t find my 2K respirator and the weather was turning so that job will have to wait. I did manage to bung some new lights up though so at least when I do get round to it I can see where the paint’s going
I went to the workshop this morning to sort a few things out and decided that today was the day. Not the best job I’ve ever done but it’s twenty five years since I last picked up a spray gun and I’ve never used two pack before and certainly not paint that’s been in a rusty tin for the last ten years
Picked up a set of 4 continental all terrains at zero cost, 50/50 off/on road with snow and mud clearance tread. Only lost less than 1mm of tread. All i have to do is return the alloys. Ordered up a set of OEM pattern steel wheels, deep dish as fitted to the old one tons and fwd controls and suited to the 235/85 tyres.
The front quarters haven’t come out too bad but the match is awful on the rears. The paint was bought years ago for a front end repair and I knew the colour match was crap but I needed the practice so it seemed a shame to waste it. I spent this afternoon flatting the nearside rear quarter ready for a second squirt.
Hopefully the new paint will be a better match and as I’m only concentrating on one corner I’m less likely to end up with a satsuma finish It’ll be good practice for when I come to paint this old girl
