Dicking about with crap old cars

Bland is what I need. Hopefully gets me to 250,000 miles without issue.

It’s what we are doing with the wife’s car. It’s on 170,000 miles atm and outside of normal maintenance has never gone wrong.

Sadly the aircon clutch is iffy atm but to be expected

Pah! Alison’s mileage and fuel economy from the other day…

Talking of Pah! I could tell you a story of a well known @coco A3 1.8T that would put that to shame

Harsh, but fair.

Had the back wheel off and adjusted the emergency brake shoe tension. Sorted that little issue out.
It looks nice from 10 paces. Amateurish repairs on 3 corners though.
Next to replace the spare wheel winchy bit. Looks like someone chopped the cable and stole the wheel previously. Spare Sat in boot.

But if excitement today. Fitted a rear windscreen wiper arm and wiper.
That is it really. Took a bit to get the broken old bit of.
Just waiting on the spare wheel thingy turning up and some shiny new number plates.
Crazy times.
In other news the cam belt in the Alfa is still not done. Now quite high up the list of things.

Famous last words, just before ‘fuck should have done that last year’

Now not being used until done. Not risking a snap.

The electric gear starting to be delivered. A Renogy DC to DC split charger with solar input that allows the solar to send half its output to the starter batt while driving to ease the load off the Alt.

New number plates have cheered up the look of it a bit.

Fitted the winch thingy that holds the spare wheel under the boot. Nice to have the thing out of the boot.
Climbed in to the rear two seats. Not too bad for leg room, but the headroom is probably not for those over 5’6”.
Got one of those scratch touch up pens to try on some of the scratches round it.

Quite happy with it so far. Will pick the caravan up tomorrow with it.

Have seen the car now needs some attention to the paint but otherwise good for the intended use. Has Isofix for child seat . Price adjustment to deal with the issue.
I’m now officially uncool covering an extra 1,000 miles a month.

Drives like new. 59.1mpg at Motorway speeds. Premium diesel from Costco £1.35. Full tank gives about 750 miles. Back to the Cotswolds on Friday to see grandson via a wedding in Shrewsbury, return via Oxford on Monday. Repeat every couple of weeks👍

More goodies arrived, this is a combined inverter/ charger with automatic switch over when hooked up to 240v and programable charger. A cheeky 17 kg out of a total 70kg electrics fit. One lesson i learnt from running the old motorhome, get the fucking electrics right or life is miserable. Landy back in 5 weeks

I had one of these turn up today to use in my Fiat Doblo that I’ve removed the rear seats and currently making a storage / bed thing. I didn’t really want to make the build too complicated and have to hurt my head learning new stuff so this 518wh power supply should work a treat.
Once the bed is done I will start on curtains and also have the rear windows tinted and eventually create a holder for my bike along with storage for the bike stuff.

Have been using Meguiara Scratch X. It seems to work alright.

Apart for now 180,000 miles of motorway rash cleans up well.

Here’s my GTM aka the Purple Peril. I can’t get in it with the hardtop on or the roof up so it purely a fair weather car. Still a lot to be done but I have no issues using it like it is.
