Intermittent fasting works, but is no more effective than standard calorie counting diets. Other claims made for fasting like “toxin elimination” are dubious at best.
I believe there are many benefits to fasting though I don’t know about toxins. Obviously eating the same calories in a smaller window wouldn’t help with weight loss!
I don’t actually do it for weight loss and really only mentioned it to bring up the idea that it’s ok to be hungry at times.
Possibly the heaviest delivery I have ever received
With shift patterns and everything else going on in my busy life, I have ordered a power rack, bench, new bar and plates. Should make a nice little garage system with my kettlebells, bands, pull up bar, plyo boxes and other odds and ends.
Plus I hate going to gyms and all the knobheads that go with them.
Bet your local driver is gonna love you
I’m sure there will be much tutting and grumbling
Yeah, if you’re disciplined and motivated you can work out really well at home. Gyms used to be good places to go maybe 20 years ago when there was more camaraderie and support from the bro’s, but then phones and instagram happened
Jealous!
Awesome stuff
So I have set a couple of basic targets for myself this year.
Lose a stone by September, and increase aerobic activity by 110% (this will involve walking, swimming, and a return to playing golf).
I will also be making a conscious effort to eat less meat*.
*As there are no specifics here, I will refer to it as turning Vaguetarian.
I thought you would all want to know first before I preach the gospel all over Soshal Meedya
All good bro, apart from golf.
Finally ran 5k in under 30 minutes tonight having knocked off 6 minutes since finishing C25K in November. I know it’s not fast in the grand scheme of things, but for me it is a significant milestone.
Am running 3x a week between 5 and 7k, a mixture of road and off-road runs. Now I can go back to running purely for the enjoyment/fitness, and stop obsessing about 30 minutes.
Well done. That’s a decent time.
I have also had a busy fitness January and after five months of HR running (ie 106 -116 bpm x 96%) at a volume of around 50 km per week today I decided that it was a good time to test myself. My route was hilly but things were evened up a little by being an out and then back effort. The Strava app I use estimated that my gradient adjusted 10K time would have been 57 minutes. Unfortunately I still look closer to high end audio man than gym or bike man.
Well I’m starting to get myself fairly fit and frankly I wish I had done it years ago.
My Vo2 MAX has gone from 37 to 45 in three months and I’m now a whisker away from being in the top 5% for my age. My resting heart rate is also dropping still and I had a 7 day average reading of 38 BPM last week. I’m a little less sure this is good as it is extremely slow In 2017 when it was 45 BPM I had things checked over with an ECG at the surgery - They weren’t overly worried and compared me to Seb Coe.
Whenever I check my HR with my BP monitor it’s the same as my watch.
On June 4th 2021 I weighed 95kg and had not even been for a walk for six months!
I’m now 20kg lighter.
That’s excellent well done.
You are now 20kgs lighter than me.
My resting heart rate was 23 when I was asleep.
That sounds dangerously low if it was accurate Dave.
What an achievement
It was I now have a pacemaker.
