Those are a LONG way off the board - is that prescribed for the design you’re building?

Not at all, doubt it makes any difference?

It can be useful if they’re run hot, but those package sizes of tx are so cheap they’re usually duplicated to share the load. Depending on what the circuit’s actually doing, long leads might adversely affect inductance values, and depending on frequencies involved, radiate a bit more RF - if it’s a phono stage, I’d carefully reheat and drop 'em lower.

Are they the PassDiy boards with the Toshiba JFETs?

Yes. £100 off of ebay. Will hook them up to a supply and check them next week. Soldering generally okay with a few dryish looking joints.
