Testing in the back garden. I’m two streets away and cant wait to hear it. If my neighbors keep being anti social I may well hire it…Payback Pt.1 will involve a Tuesday 4am rendition of
That is an idea which could have traction
Top fuel dragroadrollerster.
Flintstones?
Been on the rum?
More Heath Robinson.
Not yet, but no work tomorrow, so I’m going to predict I will be…
arsed?
Not yet, but 750ml bottles of Leffe are £2.50 at Tesco at the moment, and I’m 2 in, so it’s something of an inevitability really.
Oh, and a couple of pints from walking the dog earlier on…
Last phase of finishing my PTP plinth , I used the dreaded resin and wasn’t particularly happy with the finish so sanded down again and now finishing with Rubio Monocoat oil plus 2c ,which is a two pack oil ,last coat will be some gloss Rubio maintenance oil first time using Rubio products, pretty happy with the finish so far
Naked with the top plinth off , brass arm pillars supplied by Steve ,though I’ve now got a Boxford lathe so he’s now redundant
Rubio stuff pretty good the maintenance oil a worthwhile application
That would suit Kernow. As he never seems to play any records
Love the minimalist aesthetic of these
What’s inside the lovely casework Simon? Look fab
How good are the James (Jianshin) transformers, know Triode Labs were using them so assume they should be fairly good?
Looking at some 2.5K 30W ones for a SE 2a3 amp.
Get Monolith Magnetics, or Intact
Is anyone winding audiophool tx onto Hitachi Metals stripwound cores? Admittedly most of their stuff is a torus, but they use an alloy no-one else uses SFAICS, and from the specs it seems especially resistant to magnetostriction, so certainly good for power apps, but I’d have though the efficiency and restricted fields of toroids could have advanatges for interstage and output as well?
Got some small cores on order to try as digital interface tx - tried ferrite common-mode wound chokes and they were better than nothing, so got some Magnetics cores which were a bit small, but work noticeably better, the Hitachi ones are a much better size, so…
Just about everyone who winds ‘amorphous’ and for only about the last 15 years . The Hitachi Metglas cores (AMCC) are suitable for output and interstage. @Kevin’s amps are wound on such and @chelseadave’s SIT outputs are on the nano-crystalline (AMNCC).
Then there’s Finemet. Apparently amazing but $$$$$$
