Speaking of castration, Mrs S had Barnaby demasculinated on Valentines day, I never forgave her, not for the castration but the date.

She’s fine thanks. Just on steroids for 6 months and monthly bloods. All of which, of course, is not covered on the insurance

Apologies for what may seem virtue-signalling, but if you own dogs, love dogs, or just care about animal cruelty, may I suggest boycotting Crufts until healthier breed standards not only proliferate, but also start to actually be observed! Short, miserable lives for countless thousands of beloved pets is the alternative. This Frenchie is just one of dozens of breeds with major, inbred health issues:

Bandit’s Mum, a 11 year old working sheepdog, jumped off the tractor on Sunday and broke he back leg very badly. It’s had to be amputated I’m afraid.
The shepherd paid £2,200 for the Operation. Proves farmers do love their working animals.

A lot of discussions on various radio stations today about the charges that many large chains of vets demand for prescriptions/treatment compared to what small independent vets charge. Also the startling differences in diagnosis and treatment between vets. Much grumbling and anger expressed. Can’t help thinking it’s a perfectly accurate foretaste of what healthcare for humans will be like quite soon if the powers that be get their way. An expensive nightmare.
