Apparently the Show side of the breed are even moar thickerer! 
He’s had a very unsettling few days, came over from Ireland at the weekend, a few days with the rehoming lady, and now up to us today.
He’s very gentle, very clingy and is already aware that the cats are the boss of him!
Also, I don’t think he’s ever seen the telly, he’s alternately fascinated and terrified of it!
He’s quite happy watching Crufts though!

Lurchers (from the experience of the dog-in-law) at least make it look like they are trying to have a thought process.
Our friends lurchers would disagree. Past couple of years they’ve brought down two stags and a couple of foxes. Apart from the foxes, venison meat has been distributed to friends and dogs

It’s tough for them being taken away from all that’s familiar, even if it’s to something better - he’ll come right once he’s had a bit of time

Not bragging. Simply trying to state that they are intelligent dogs. They are not used for hunting. On both occasions, once the owner saw what happened he humanly despatched the two stags.
I’m not trying to justify it in any way.
Surprised that the venison wasn’t ruined by pre death stress.

I have heard people saying that it generally takes dogs about 3 days to decompress after a change and 3 weeks to fully get into new routines, so that sounds like the right plan.

That’s right but took me 6 weeks with Lottie as at the end of week 3 she went into season! All well now as though she’s always been here.

3 day to decompress, 3 weeks to suss you out and 3 months to get you trained 
.
We’re not going to rush anything with him. Might take him down the pub on Sunday to see how he gets on with a big walk and other dogs.
