eBay stuff (Part 1)

Ah ha, that is a lot of cash. It will hang around for months and 30% will be knocked off the price. That dealer puts things on and then after two goes at the price, the price drops.

Seems a lot and probably had one of the arms the dealer is selling on it as the second arm.

Yes, I think that is the RRP for a V now. The new owners are trying to operate it as a proper business and are also looking around at the price of the competition.

Not sure that’ll work but that’s another story.

I don’t really care how much he reduces it, or how good it sounds, it is fugly beyond belief. If I was looking to spend Ā£15K+ on a deck I would go for something like this:
http://www.gtaudio.com/for-sale/tw-acustic-black-night-turntable/?refsource=hifishark
Even then, I wouldn’t want to pay Ā£13.5K for it.

I think the Techdas crap is really ugly and appealing to the ā€˜look at what I have got’ buyer.

I like TW Acoustic too, but I see he’s kept the arm.
Tricker is always high priced.

The AF2 we had at Scalford a few years back was a really impressive sounding machine.

The Techdas looks nice and solid and the control panel looks nice. Probably look better without the gold parts though.

The one at Scalford didn’t have any of the nasty gold bling attached. It was as understated as something that large could be. Nice hat :grinning:

Yup. Very very good. Spent a long time in that room. Live jazz sounded excellent.

Yep, that’s my Dr John record. It sounded fucking awesome on that deck/arm/cartridge combo. The sheer energy of it was quite something.

I’m glad you enjoyed it, that makes it worthwhile. Pete and I got home broken!

I spent the Thurs and Fri before tweaking the stands and packing it all up. We got to Scalford late and didn’t have time to set the speakers and amps up (10 drivers, 5 stereo amps, two Phono stages, digital front end) before the turntables arrived and a bunch of trainspotters descended on them. It was two in the morning before we had finished putting it together and hadn’t measured it or tidied the room. Up at 7, bit of breakfast then measure and tidy- a pretty major operation in itself, the room was an absolute tip. Several hours being hosts, then disassemble, load van for next morning. Most of the Monday was taken up with the journey back, unload and an argument with Enterprise when they tried to scam us for a chip on the van windscreen. Pete then had to drive back from Kent to Herts. I set it all back up on the Tues, which took me all day.

It was stressful and expensive and with four days annual leave thrown in, quite a commitment. When people posted negative stuff in their reviews I can honestly say it really hurt. The Doctor John was one of the enjoyable moments!

My favourite Scalford system ever.

Haha, thanks! We bit off much more than we could chew and between Pete and I, it’s something that isn’t discussed, like really, don’t go there! Fucking insanity.
