We loved that room and appreciated all the effort you made to put it on and give us the chance to hear something most of us could never dream about hearing let alone owning.
My biggest regret was only hearing it a couple of times briefly on the Sunday.
In hindsight,i wish iād just locked my room up for an hour or two
Saying that, word on the street says you and Pete will be replicating that weekend at Lopwell in June
M77 clone - I didnāt realise that nobsound stuffed these boards as well.
You really needed to be against the back wall, dead centre to get it at its best. Iāve not heard it as good since either, because those turntables/arms and cartridges were amazing. My gear doesnāt get close. Each of them had itās own character. The SME 30/12 with Peteās IO LTD/AN-S9 was sublime. Someone brought a half speed master of Bitches Brew in late on, Iāve not forgotten the sound of it, huge energy and slam!
When you doing it again then?
Pfftā¦
I only made it to the year before that one
I loved playing Melanie de basio on it.
I fucking bet you did
Old shit.
I have a pair of those, and theyāre actually pretty good. But I paid 70 quid for mine, from a bloke down in Helston. Theyāre tatty though. I bought them for the tweeters, intending to use them with my ESL57s, as people do, but actually at the moment I have the speakers themselves in use, and really enjoying them. I also was considering maybe whipping out the mid-ranges and replacing with a new SEAS unit, but actually Iāve become quite attached to them exactly as they are. Those ones are EXPENSIVE though.
He is right, what he says in the listing though: the top end is gorgeous.
Kevin (aural flea) had a pair of Decca Volts at an early Scalford that I babysat for an hour, the top end is great for sure.
Thought these might be of interest to some on here.
Price seems fair.
Looking for smaller speakers
These are nearish to me - I can pick up and store for someone.
Iām not a fan of EAR amps but this has a stunningly good phono stage
I keep lookingā¦be sensibleā¦
