eBay stuff (Part 2)

You’ll sell a shedload of those as buttplugs on the 'Wam at £50 a pop*.

EDIT: Saves on the drilling though…

Can’t you chuck in some of the timber that falls off your house every so often for that vintage je ne sais quoi?

Sapele wood. £40 (rare timber, uncannily rare timbres)

Ideal for @crimsondonkey s cellar, which surely must be nearly finished.

Yep, sure I’ve seen a post somewhere (not sure where, don’t ask me to find it🤣!) saying that the cellar is all finished, bass horns formed from concrete walls firing into the listening room above.
Just needed the main speakers for that room above.
These could be the final solution.

True, Lignum bowls are readily available but these are not turned by an old boy in a garage. The precision of them seems to be what people who need the ‘best of the best’ desire. This really isn’t about sound per se, it’s the luxury end of the market where little stands up to logic - Bit like watches really.

The plating is high micron gold (Nicely done, I would imagine a shit ton of polishing is required here pre plating) There are the ebony inserts, further machining, inlays etc etc .

There is design & coding to be done / R&D/ materials / dealer margins / Marketing / Exclusivity / The initial Idea etc. I’m sure this could all be done at less than a tenth of the RRP. I’ve never paid for one, I probably wouldn’t either - I’m certainly not the target market here. When there are £60K cables in the world it all becomes post reason really - (Some people earn £7K taking a shit in the morning in interest)

Everything is relative to what an individual finds: Expensive / Desirable / Beautiful / Exclusive etc. Of course it could be copied but it wouldn’t be an ‘original’ / hold a ‘Premium’ to people who spend on this kind of thing (You may be buzzing to know these come with certificates!). They are sold almost as much a piece of art as they are anything to do with audio.

Insane, absurd, disgusting, vulgar, clever, beautiful, well made, interesting. It’s all in the minds eye of the free market.

We were 50% of the way to a forum strapline and then it went wrong.

This correct insight is 100% why AA members need never fear being targeted for the sale of speciality hats.

Exactly what you need for precision IME

…Fair comment in many cases

Interested to find out if, as a defender of this sort of thing you actually agree with it ?

Every system should have at least one bit of foo!

Something old, something new, something engineered, something foo!

Not sufe he is a defender, just stating that they are there.
As to agreeing with it, agree with what?
That they exist? That they cost a lot? That people buy them?
You can agree with all of those statements because they are true

Your bait has been successfully resisted :ok_hand:
