eBay stuff (Part 2)

I could happily live with the above system as my only rig. Listening to it now

Well I’m blown away by these speakers for £200, so now it’s an excercise in matching them for cheap!

Great fun for a relatively small outlay :+1:

@shrink & @MJ2 I have set up a budget system, Spendor Preludes, entry level Onkyo amp and a Wiim Pro+ and am blown away how good it sounds.

Surprising how much pleasure you can get for a reasonable outlay, total cost was £440

I’d be lying if I said that aside from some midband transparency, that these sounded much worse than my trusty Harbeths!

I wasn’t talking better or worse but how good a cheap system can sound.

the trick will be finding the right combination of power / streaming / phono stage etc that is budget… but i’m on it

not a bad shout, but no real roon readiness, i’d be relegated to using airplay. So i’d be better off getting a plain amp and just bolting on a fiio streamer or something.

but its a cool looking thing.

NAD C368 Integrated amplifier with BluOS 2 Streaming Module | eBay

Looks as though it could be a contender. Decent reviews ?

ish… always hard to know with these things.

as always, watch this space, i’ll go into research mode and see what bargains lurk. I’m in the mood to experiment with ultra bargains and see what can be done. Suspect however, that as the rogers sound so good on the end of the big marantz monos, that they’ll probably prefer a bit of power.

Its still an 8" poly driver, so low power amps, may not be my best plan.

I’ll do a system update in the SOYS when i’ve come up with some plans

Back when I was selling everything possible to try and keep Evo Audio going I ended-up with a budget system of matching Marantz integrated and CDP, plus Tannoys.

It sounded fucking shite. Don’t do that :+1:

Have a word with Ed @Tons_of_fun

He’s used / reviewed loads of these 1 box systems and would point you in the right direction.

If you want to try a 3255-based chip amp then I have a few, you could borrow one and see what you think.

I’m not married to just that idea. Streaming boxes are so damn cheap these days, that it could look like many solutions.

Thanks but no way a chip amp will control some vintage rogers. They’re currently sucking up quite a bit of a pair of 40kg monoblocks!

:+1: enjoy the journey

Any chance that one of you fuckers might stop polluting this thread and start a new discussion so that every recommendation can be ignored by the downsizer and I can put it on mute?
