So is the Shindo platter made of bronze? I see Ray does a bronze platter but not sure if it is any better than aluminium with a Tenuto on top.
I have left the brake in mine but with the magnet almost not engaged so that the motor has just a bit of something to work against.
I also don’t reduce the voltage by that much through the psu as otherwise it takes away the drive.
Runs nice and quiet as it is at present.
Oh, Audio Silente idler wheel as well which I found was an improvement over the standard one.

The Shindo platter is an aluminum alloy, certainly not as heavy as bronze, The platter issue really needs to be holistically observed. Whilst you potentially get greater flywheel effect from higher mass you also increase the grinding of the bearing which increases noise, help on one hand → hinder on the other.

The Shindo’s center boss for the spindle bush is much more substantial and the platter top is recessed for the mat - I think Ray has recently made some copies but these Shindoesque things make decent sense.

These were mine originally, bought them in from Denmark a while back. Shame he is selling them he had a perfect room for them and they sounded great.

I really thought the Shindo platter was all brass, might be a good reason to stick with the aluminium platter with Tenuto :slightly_smiling_face:.
If I keep the deck that is. Itch to scratch and all that! Trying to keep this and buy another deck but may need to sell this in order to sort the itch😁.
