Has been mentioned previously upthread, a combination of this username, a webcam and another listing of a mirror could be considered a novel combination.

Quite like the thought of the buyer going round to pick them up in full on early 70s Roxy garb to meet his hero, only to be met by a tubby bloke in his 60s with jam down his vest whilst eating toast.

Don’t think I’ve ever heard a pair. Didn’t someone take a pair to scalford?

A bloke called Dr Rock had some Apogees at Scalford one year
they sounded nice not sure what model they were

And user211 had Duetta Sigs. He never took them to Salford. I heard them at a bake he had - Bristol way if memory serves.

It was seeing photos of the ones at Scalford that first got me interested in them. I also heard Justin’s in Portishead. Having now got some Duetta Sigs myself, the exercise of taking a pair to Salford is beyond impressive. They are enormously heavy and inconvenient to move. Just getting mine from the back of a van to the living room was terrifying. Two-man lift, with easy potential for one to slip out of someone’s hands and crash to the ground.

What amp (s) do you use, Nick ?

I have an EWA M100 Pro, which is a Colin Wonfor (Inca Tech etc) creation. I can’t remember exactly how powerful it is, but it’s meaty. I do roll off the bottom 60hz or so, and send that to a big pro audio amp (Ohm FL Series) for sub duties, so I think that makes the Aps less of a load.

:+1: thanks.

I think the only Apogees that were truly hard to drive were the original Calipers. They (the manufacturers) must have listened/learned because subsequent Apogees were all much easier to drive, including Caliper Sigs.

Justin used 211 valve amps to drive his Duetta Sigs. They were in a fairly small room when I heard them but the amps seemed to be doing the business. :+1:

Probably the only pair of speakers I’ve seen in a while that would fit where I need them to.

Not sure they are an upgrade on the Boenicke W8 though. Plus the move from wood might get noticed!

Currently £500, if you had a Digital-Only sources, and wanted a 2.2 system with DSP/Roomperfect.
