eBay stuff (Part 2)

Agreed, Will Pay £5 if you change it to Kendoddsdadsdogsdead.

Scintillas were the first ones marketed here & they were a very tough load. 1 Ohm & less.

Note I would pick up Apogees for any one here And go and listen to check them prior if needed - Just ask

Doh, I was confusing Calipers with Scintillas

I don’t think any of them were an easy load. If I recall Calipers were the smallest, then Duettas, then Scintillas & I think the largest model were just called Apogees but I’m not sure any of those were imported into the UK.

I remember going to a dem of scintillasat the Randolph hotel in Oxford.
Massive Krells driving them - Was outstandingly good

The Calipers are a much easier drive - a single KSA50 does em

Stage was the smallest, about 8” shorter than the Caliper. I have a friend who had a pair of Stage for years - they’re about the same size as the small Diptiques Nick sold recently.

He has a big room and the Stages always sounded lovely.

Ah yes, forgot the Stage

I have to admit, after a couple of very enjoyable years with Duettas, there’s a little itch in the back of my mind, to try Scintillas. I do see the odd pair for sale. But it wouldn’t be just the speakers, they obviously then require a significant amp upgrade as well, and in no way can I begin to afford that, so most likely it’ll never happen. It’s not as though I’m in any way unhappy with what I have, but one can’t help speculating about MOAR. Also to be honest if I had that kind of wedge, I’d consider trying the Clarysis Audio speakers, which are very much an homage to the Apogees, and allegedly much much more efficient.

Had a look at these today out of curiosity, and had a rather low, speculative bid.

Possibly a dealer grabbing them if no one here? The last pair I saw were 2k at a well known purveyor of used Hifi.

Emporium but still seems cheap (£360) for an entry level Moon amp.

Yep really decent price that they went for - £967.
Not generally what I look out for It’s sometimes tempting to try something different.

Fuck I want those.

Unfortunately I don’t have $5k and they won’t ship to the UK.

This is a bit of a bargain.

Looking good until - Missing the sub connctor / screening can etc = additional rewire if you want to run all the way through or parts
