Can you fill the battery with cheap electricity overnight? Is the software any good at sorting out likely power needs, likely generation etc?

Yes, you have full control. Solar forecasting is in development but you can do it today with Home Assistant and some scripts.

That amount of medals for Muttley don’t come cheap.

and can be installed on a Raspberry Pi

The weather appears to have improved to the point where the solar panels run more than just the LEDs on the inverter.

Possibly a good job, we had the first Octopus saving period notification for 5-6pm today. Not that it will make any difference for us given that we haven’t used any grid electricity outside od the 4 hour window for ages.

Probably time to drag it over here.

Slight eyebrow at the concept of auxiliary CUs for the batteries? Obviously you need a massive one to cope with all of the circuits that get involved if you electrify everything, but unless you are putting some circuits outside of the battery scope you could have them all on one?

Still early days yet? But yes

Yep, that’s faff.

The bungalow we’re moving into on Monday has an air source heat pump supplying the underfloor heating and hot water.

The house we’re moving out of, despite having gas central heating, is superbly well insulated and has proved to be very efficient over the last three years resulting in pleasingly low energy bills.

It will be interesting to see how the two compare.

So we need to spend your money on other eco tech then.

Has it got solar?

No, not yet, but I want to get them installed soon as. With it being single storey, it has a big roof, so plenty of scope.

A large battery is also on the cards so that I can run a lecky car as cheaply as possible :+1:

If the hot water system has a storage tank, get a Myenergi Eddi with the solar. If not, get a Sunamp and an Eddi.

Not familiar with any of those things - I shall investigate
