Its funny isn’t it that he’s rejected the H6s as larger imposing floorstanders over a standmount which is going to require a big ugly stand in all likelihood.

H6s are quite narrow at 18cm (vs 24cm A1) and about the same depth 35cm (vs 34cm A1). H6s are 93cm tall where the A1s are 41cm and then sat on 60cm stands will be 101cm tall.

The whole size argument for standmounts falls on its arse when stands are needed. As bookshelf speakers, yes they take up less room, but many stands are far bigger and bulkier than a floorstander would be. I’ve never seen standmounts as slim as frugelhorns for example. As for how ugly many stands are…

If he’s not really that interested in hi-fi he will care about how it looks. That’s it. When sounds comes out he’ll say it’s good.

Exactly. If he wants small floorstanders then I’ve got a couple of pairs Musical Technology (Kestrel and, I think, Hawk). Won’t give him the bass he’s probably after, but they’ll be smaller than the average floorstanders and stand mounts.

I’d also rather have a reverse mullet. Nice speakers with budget front end.
