Had these for my birthday last week.
Got the Iguana ones, they are great. I find many are far too sweet for my palate. Bought a spicy tomato one today, just about tolerable on the sweetness level (IIRC 24g added sugar per 100g sauce). I made it more tasty by adding a slug of soy sauce and a dollop of Encona Carolina Reaper chilli sauce.
in the end we decided it was still too sweet so binned the half jar that was left after dinner
quite like a shake or two of Huy Fong Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce
When I canna be bothered with home made faf…
Faves & Non-negotiables:
Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce - not what it once was, but still damn good.
Tiptree Brown Sauce - simply the best.
Red’s Kansas City Barbecue Sauce - sweet, smoky, spicy - not found better, yet.
Heinz Salad Cream - Ronger than a Rong thing on St Rongun’s Day, luv it.
Tracklements Mayo - rich, thick, mustardy, yum!
Tracklements English Mustard - rich, thick, mustardy, yum!
Grey Poupon Dijon mustard - yet to try better in the UK.
Branston small chunk - it’s not a cheese sammidge without. Tried hundreds of others, even made my own - gave-up, stopped dicking-about, went back to this.
Natco Brinjal Pickle - perfect blend of spices etc for my tastes.
Tabasco original, scotch bonnet & chipotle - another one I’ve been round the houses with - a waste of fucking time, back to the original: just tastes Right.
Vietnamese fish sauce - find these denser, fishier and tastier.
Dark Soy sauce - think it’s Amoy at the mo, don’t like the molasses-y stuff, and what’s the point of “light” soy sauce? (rhetoric, don’t answer)
Sweet chilli dipping sauce. Generic. They’re all much of a muchness.
Got a cupboard full of others, but they only occasionally get a look in.
So I thought, until I made my own. Game changer, I actually threw half a bottle of bought stuff away after I tasted it.
Quite easy and SO much better than any of the commercial stuff I’ve tasted.
Oh yes. I love this with dinner from the chippy.
This, or a real Thai restaurant not a buy everything in one.
Real sweet chilli sauce is my ticket to diabetes
I find your lack of HP Sauce disturbing.
Particularly in a bacon sandwich.
Tiptree > Stokes > Daddies > sumpo > HP
I’m surprised you like this. I bought a bottle a while back and found it to be incredibly sweet. I much prefer boggo standard HP to this.
Stokes brown sauce is my go to, but quite hard to find in the shops around here.
us too, horrid syrupy stuff we prefer the brown from here.
You’re all very lucky to have a selection of brown sauces to choose from. It’s extortionately priced HP or nothing over here. It is mitigated by the fact that a decent bacon sandwich is near also impossible.
I’ve given up looking for anything other than HP. The Stokes is impossible to come by. I’m not sure I’ve tried the Tiptree recently but do recall it being almost cloyingly sweet the last time I had it.
I always have a bottle of Kecap Manis to hand as it adds to a stir fry as does decent Oyster Sauce. We use the Healthy Boy brand as it is easy to find.
Guilty as charged - I do have a sweet tooth where sauces and pickles are concerned, when I want something sharp is when the Worcs sauce comes into play
Current favourite thing is this shizz; a little sweeter and moar complex than yer average. That’ll be the MSG and sugar then. Fawesome on scramble.
Easily the best lime pickle I have had.
Lardon baguette anyone?
