Feckin' Weather

22.5°C Here thanks to a small room and my AI 500 Amplifier. Heating not necessary. :sunglasses:

Temperature has dropped by half a degree. Still no heating at the moment. No snow outside, but bloody cold… Fuck going out in this if it isn’t necessary!

The Sugden is on overtime, warm and music, who could ask for anything more.

Decent day here, dry and a good temp for an 8 mile walk

Out of my window at work. Heavy snow with wind rising to 100 kph as the temp rises and it turns to freezing rain and then rain. Getting home today could be a shitshow

Northerners start to wonder if they’re ok in a T shirt.

Nah, it’ll be fine.

They would have got a bit damp; the weather actually matched the forecast, so all the morning’s snow got washed away in the afternoon. It was +8 on my drive home

Fuck that!

This is the worst I’ve seen.
Was away with a youth club in north Devon in 78,and stuck there for 5 extra days.
Never seen anything like it,when it started,it covered a dustbin within the hour.

There was only 2 snow blowers for n Devon, and they were doing the main roads,we were up a 1 in 25 hill on the edge of Exmoor near lynmouth/lynton.

They had ploughs out,but obviously couldn’t cope with the amount of snow coming up the road.It was approximately 10ft drifts on the road, going down to 6ft the other side.

Just a light covering but the northerly wind is FF. Walking into it combined with horizontal snow flurries feels like sticking pins in your eyes.

Hope all the posties are still wearing shorts?

Quite a few are. Mine finally fell apart a couple of weeks back and my size is out of stock so I’m letting the side down in long ones. The shame of it!

There was around 6” on the roads this morning so I cancelled my app’t at the vets on the Mainland. Both ferry services are down to single vessel too (the crews are not able to get to the various terminals) which would also mean I couldn’t guarantee to get there on time and possibly not even get back.

One of the crofters has been out in his tractor this morning, took the top off it and went round again spreading grit but the roads are still very iffy with more snow added since he did his thing.

It’s still coming down and temperatures are not getting into positive territory so I’ve also cancelled my hospital app’t for tomorrow.

Just remember I got stuck in this in 2005.
Had just started a new job of driving cars round the country.
My first task was to pick someone up who had dropped a car in Truro.
Could tell it was going to be iffy 30 miles from Truro, was told to turn round as the other bloke was stuck.
Was getting worse as the journey home went on,by the time I got close to st columb on the A30 at 8pm,cars were dumped on the edge of the road as people tried to get somewhere to sleep.
I took a right off the A30 and headed for par, then on a b road to Delebole. Took 4 hours to do a 20 minute journey.
Weird thing was, when I reconnected back on the A30 near liskeard, there was no snow at all.
Lot of peoples cars were ransacked that night.

More snow and roads are pretty much impassable unless you have a tractor or a quad, they seem to be the only things moving.

Makes for some nice views though - when it stops falling!
