33C on the patio, 65.1C in the conservatory

I actually got around to putting a 50mm polystyrene suspended ceiling in the conservatory about 6 weeks ago. It faces south west, it’s in full sun now and with the blinds closed and a fan on, it’s a pretty comfortable 31°c, before the ceiling it would have been 40°c +.

We could do with similar - ours is unusable.

So was ours, it’s vastly improved it. I had been quoted £20k to take off the existing roof structure and replace it with a insulated one :rofl::rofl:
The insulation cost £160 and while I’m sure the £20k job would have been more somewhat effective, I will spend some of the savings on a better fan or 50.

Does this “conservatory” have wood-clad walls and a bench or two? Throw some water on the floor for the full effect…

I wish. Nope, about a 1/4 - 1/3 height brick walls, 2/3 - 3/4 insulated glass and an insulated, heat reflective (yeah right) glass roof.

As Sodders said, perfectly unuseable.

10.30hrs and it’s 27c, the grass hasn’t gone that lovely shade of brown that doesn’t need mowing yet, bugger.

Gone a bit rumbly here in Bristol…

That one seemed to soak and blast Swindon but didn’t get as far as Didcot. So I had to wash the birdshit (bloody hell, what are they eating to make it in such vast lurid quantities !?) off my car windscreen myself, ahead of a drive tomorrow.

We had a whole load of lightening and rain (NE of Swindon), very refreshing!

It hit 33C in the shade earlier, then a huge stack of cloud built up a few miles west… The wind came up, the temperature plummeted, lightning flashes began to illuminate the towering wall of dark grey cloud - the rain started…

And that was that, fuck-all.

SO annoying, and I’m not even sure why it’s annoying apart from I’m a miserable old cunt that finds fucking everything annoying…

We had rumbles of thunder here but nothing more. I am doing my regular tree/hedge thing with the council tomorrow. Ergo, it will rain tomorrow.

:crossed_fingers:

Thunder, lightning, torrential rain and hailstones.

Yeah we just had that.

We were out for a walk and ended up sheltering under a railway bridge. At least there are plenty of those around here.

Two torrential but short, (maybe 5 minutes) storms and the rest of the time mostly sunny.

Hel has decided that we are going to enter an apocalyptic heat wave shortly and insisted I buy an aircon unit. She noticed that I was non-committal about her wellbeing and it was the mention of the dogs that kicked me into action

If you’re running valve or class A amps in your listening room, there’ll always be an apocalyptic heat wave, so you may as well get one in there too…….

….oh, and don’t forget the solar panels, so running the air-con on sunny days costs you nowt :+1:

Just been slashing it down in Caernarfon. Came back soaked to find two damp donkeys.

Bought an aircon this year - purely for the dogs (well the old boy, who’s not a heat-whore). Human’s just have to get used to it
