One strike was so close you could hear the fizzle.
Squeaky freaked out and hid in the corner ![]()

Prince Buster was right. Too hot, this town is too hot.
We had some rain but not torrential. It has dropped the temp though. There was thunder and lightning, mostly to the north, but south of Oxford which is only 12 miles away as the crow flies, so near enough.
Mad weather arrived here at 4am.
I’ve been standing on the doorstep having a vape and watching it. It’s instructive who’s out and about at this time. The shirtless man confidently strolling through the middle of it. The masked guy who apparently needs to put his bag of rubbish in the street bin no matter what.
The tomatoes won’t need watering anyway.
Well that was fun. Woken up by a few rumbles, got to enjoy a whole load of rumbles very close indeed, then a sudden, five minute deluge that turned my road into a stream. And now, a few minutes later, it’s blue sky.
No rain here yet
and it didn’t drop below 26c in the bedroom last night ![]()
Took the dog for a walk at 07:00 and it was already 24c with a breeze so not too bad
Dogs were dragged out of bed and marched around the dog field at 6am this morning. Luckily the cloud cover was keeping the heat down until the final 15 mins when it broke and you could instantly feel the temp’ jump.
Brizzle airport didn’t fair so well, lightning strikes took out all of the radios so there’s a mad panic to get them replaced.
Luckily everything is redundant but they aren’t allowed to run on reduced redundancy for long.
Fuck me, 7pm and it’s still 30c out. Got about 500m from the house with the dog and said fuck that and turned around.
Looks like his walk will not be until around 9pm today
We’ve still got 33 ![]()
Our outdoor sensor stopped working a few days ago. Started again when I brought it inside.
I’ve now experimentally put it back out, but in the shade. I’d like to see what it does. 27°C indoors at the moment. I’ve just stayed in all day with all the windows and blinds shut.
26.5º downstairs, 28.4º upstairs, 34º outside according to my car. Current situation: melted blob.
not looking forward to going upstairs later, the lounge is a nice 21c though
might sleep on the sofa tonight
Absolutely freezing here most of the year but every so often having a house that could pass for a chest freezer most days pays off
smug for a day or two, less smug all winter
I’m fucked all year round, zero insulation so it’s freezing in winter and boiling in summer ![]()
Rightly my dog refused to go out at 7pm
A perfect summer’s day on the south lakes peninsular. Mid 20s, gentle breeze and chilling down nicely for the night.
Perfect.
