Gasly qualifies 3rd on the grid.

With $0 in repair costs for his team this season.

Scored 26 points so far…

Remarkable.

Looks like Danny Ric may be joining Team Andretti (or whatever they’ll be called).

Anyone want to go halves?

Wonder how Bernie 'acquired ’ them?

Ferrari > Bernie, we want to win a championship
Bernie > No probs, you can’t pay me as that would look suspicious. How about a couple of cars?

Well Losail was shit, then - highly random penalties; tired, stroppy drivers; tired, stroppy crews; tired, stroppy race direction… What an ugly shitshow.

All of the Arab races need to be fucked-off - I love racing, I even quite like F1, but the season is way too damned long now and padded with vanity projects for oil-sick trillionaires.

Good thing there’s a new one coming…

With a 108M TALL RAMP HORRRRR :eggplant: :eggplant: :eggplant:

FIA has released its 2021 championship review and acknowledges that decisions made by the then race director affected not only the outcome of the race but also the championship result.

In their release they say there will be “standardized procedures for the safety car” - I thought these were in place before 2021 and were effectively over-ruled by Masi at the time?

As I kept saying, there was always wriggle room.
Interpretation is everything.

Well this should definitely help the image of the sport…

"Motorsport’s governing body wants to change its rules to limit the ways its leadership can be held to account for bad governance.

…These would ensure that any ethics complaints were overseen by the FIA president and president of its senate, rather than the senate itself."

Ben Sulaymen tightening his stranglehold…

Well I suppose we shouldn’t expect anything less really……

Thread crossover warning!

Rolex were paying $50M a year LVMH are paying $139M a year.

Gotta sell a lot of Tag Heuer F1 watches at £1.5K to make that back!

Years ago when I worked for Siemens they did an advertising deal with F1 where they would supply all the track side comms and the ‘Siemens Communications’ logo would be on the TV etc.

I was offered a job of being one of the support engineers but I turned it down as I was living with a GF at the time and didn’t want to be away 50% of the year at F1 races.

What a fucking idiot.

Lots of talk that Liam Lawson will go to RB, and Isack Hadjar will join Tsunoda at RBR (or whatever they’ll be called next season).
Nothing official yet.

Final day of season testing:
LL drove the equivalent of 3 race distances - 159 laps - to end the day 13th fastest out of all drivers testing.
YT ended the day 17th fastest.
Perhaps more importantly, RB junior Ayumu Iwasa was sixth fastest.

Charles LeClerc was fastest, Carlos Sainz 2nd, and George Russell 3rd.

Testing times are even more difficult (impossible) to read anything from than practice at a GP. The best teams doing useful work will almost never “go for a time” at a test. New drivers may well get quite a few low fuel sticky tyre runs for evaluation.
