I’ve just eaten. Want some of these pies now…
I was hoping to see three pies on a stick, a la the famed wigan kebab…
I fucking hate Pie and Mash (and liquor) with a vengeance but Manze’s is legendary.
Fck the liquor, Love a bit of pie and mash, though a salt beef bagel has always been my favourite east end food.
Maureen’s pie and mash for the win, Chrisp Street Market. Lovely pies and amazing salt beef bagels.
The pie and mash part is fine for me, but liquor is absolutely gopping
My mate used to order a Dusty Bin… Three pie, two mash, one liquor. Genius!
Wigan kebab is just a pie (usually a meat and potato, but you can upgrade to a steak, or for a veggie option go for a butter pie, I suppose) on a buttered barm, basically a pie butty. The pies on a stick thing is an urban myth, never seen one.
That’s not what the bird who gave me the clap in Magaluf 96 promised me.
I’ve never tried pie and mash. (Moody Londoner)
Pauper Food
Been replaced by KFC
When I worked in Canary Wharf we used to get the DLR down to the cutty sark every friday and have pie and mash with liquor at this place.
Bloody lovely, eel liquor is knockout and IMHO the best part
Hoping to do a proper London trip with my son this year,so might try one.
Used to go to my aunts in Putney as a kid to watch the boat race, then onto Fulham if they were playing at home.
My uncle would have a massive bowl full of cockles or whelks, and expertly pick them out with a needle.
It was like watching Guinness book of records stuff the speed he would go
worth it just to visit the Cutty Sark, I worked in canary wharf before the fire but I think the rebuild has made the museum even betterer.
Load of city boy posers who wanna live like common people
Bought a book called secret London,so might try and tick a few of them off.
there’s no common people in London anymore, it was just city boys and tourists.
Made me think of ‘Alternative London’ which brought me to this
Bit of a long read but interesting
