and I’m willing to bet that Blackmore’s ego put Graham Bonnet’s name at the end of the list
I was there as an 18 year old. Caught the organised bus from the City Hall in Newcastle early on the morning and straight back at end of show on the night.
It was Cozy Powell’s last gig with the band as he was disillusioned with Blackmore’s obsession with Foreigner and Journey style bands and trying to break the US market big style. I seem to recall that it was touted that he tried to poach Lou Gramm at some point later after Bonnet.
It was a bit of a struggle as I had had my wisdom teeth out on the Friday so had a mouth that just felt rank the whole time😬!
PJ Harvey on Tuesday.
Piece Hall in Halifax which looks some place.
We have tickets for Gunnersbury Park on Sunday but as of this morning we’re no longer going so I’ve put them back up for sale on Ticketmaster
It’s a festival type event so they’re unlikely to sell.
I’ll ask sis if she’s interested
How many tickets?
Two.
edit: I assume that I can remove them from sale and transfer them to a “friend” with a Ticketmaster account, but it being Ticketmaster probably not.
Ta
Nah
a) they’ve locked it in so you can’t send tickets to someone else, you can only resell through them
b) the resale price they’ve quoted me is (presumably deliberately) more than retail, so if your sister wanted to go she’d be better off buying from them
DICE is so much better. I actually checked for this event on DICE, it wasn’t there so I held my nose and used Ticketmaster.
Then a few weeks later it popped up on DICE
I hate Ticketmaster.
Thanks anyway, but she says no
and OTD 1986
I really was at that one but if you’d asked me I would have told you that I never saw Scorpions or Def Leppard. I have absolutely zero recollection of either.
Someone threw a flare at Lemmy and he very nearly flounced.
“Bad News” was the Young Ones piss take of the metal scene and was about as funny as dysentery.
I don’t normally post links to the Guardian because they are so ubiquitous here, but I was hoping for this, as I suspect a lot of other people were.
Absolute banger of a performance by Mogwai last night. I had heard that they are loud live. This is indeed true. Fucking loud.
Notable mentions also for Electric Wizard and Scaler. Best live EW performance I have seen. Scaler are basically live techno with electric guitar. They got the crowd moving.
I saw Stuart Braithwaite saying that they’d had more people turn up to their soundcheck in the morning than had been at their actual performance at some festivals
Aren’t Scaler local to you?
I’ve actually read the body of the article now.
Nadine Shah in Brockwell Park plzthx
Internet says so, yes.
Edit: already bought a 4-day VIP ticket for Arctangent next year. Bit of a line-up gamble but we liked what we saw of the set-up yesterday enough to go the whole hog.
Smug face.
31 years ago today pop-pickers.
IIRC several forum members were there.
Then girlfriend’s sister, now SiL #1 had tickets but couldn’t go so we flew down from Edinburgh and crashed in her flat in Kilburn.
It took me a long time to find the photo album with this in and it turned out to contain loads of reasonably credible concert tickets.
My earlier solo career in Newcastle Brown and heavy metal isn’t as well documented
edit: and looking at the date it’s just dawned on me that my Dad died 4 years later to the day. Not related, just a bit of moment.
