Gigs I'm going to. The Gyroscope diaries

Loving the New Romantic / electro-pop followed by a violent handbrake turn into Goth :+1:

Saw Red Lorry Yellow Lorry supporting Killing Joke IIRC.

Bit concerned about the Lloyd Cole entry tbh

if that is the worst thing you find…

That is quite impressive.
Impressive that you remember the bands you saw let alone the tracks they played
I have some huge gaps!

most of the gigs I managed to remember, but friends helped fill in around 10 of them.
some gigs I have really clear memory of certain moments or songs but it has come together over the past month or so, with a lot of random memories coming up of bands I had forgotten seeing.
tbh there was also a lot of use of setlist.fm to work out what was played on the night to help make a choice for the playlist.

RLYL were supporting Love and Rockets when I saw them

I have used that resource many times, mainly to check a vague memory

Did The Cure really cover a Gary Glitter song in the encore at the Dominion Tottenham Court Road? :grinning:

Haa! One of Tik &Tok was the son of one of my mum’s friends.
Am I thinking of the robotic twatty duo?

yes, you are thinking of them.
I saw them when they supported Gary Numan on the Warrior tour in Sept 83

I saw The Cure do ‘Do You Wanna Touch Me (There)’ in 1985 as their last song of the show. That Gary Glitter song had repeated appearances…

He’s one of them definitely better live than on record.

By way of context, Anthony “Baba Yaga’s Hut” is a local gig promoter, mostly very leftfield stuff. He was actually ticking off names at the Orb the other night and said “I know your name from somewhere” - yeah, I go to quite a few of your “Estonian guy with a bag of wires in a shed” gigs.

The Crystal Palace subway, unused for 100 years, is being refurbished. Evidently the Crystal Palace Park Trust is planning on letting it out for events and Anthony has had a bit of a lightbulb moment so he’s been around to scope it out just before it opens.

To be honest I don’t really care who he puts on, I’m definitely up for gigs in this space. It’s also walking distance from me.

Also, the wife observed that “well, you’ve been looking for a venue for your 60th” :face_with_monocle:

A format I’ve really enjoyed over the last few years.
