Yes was great. A lot busier than I expected tbh. Players, caddies, Marshalls lot more relaxed and having a bit of craic with the crowd which was nice.
Jeagar is my tip from the paddock. No idea who he is but he looked to be playing really well over the few holes I seen him play. Chambeau and Speith both out on their own, multiple balls on every hole I saw so both of them not there for a fckabout either.
Be interesting to see how the they handle some proper links weather
Went to the driving range the other day with FoL#1 Ellie and her bf, who is a fairly keen golfer.
Not swung a club in at least 10 years so naturally took the big dog driver out, tried to remember all the set up stuff and gave it a big swing, fully expecting what used to be my usual result, a great big swooping slice.
Hit it fully square and it went 250 ish yards and straight down the middle, to the absolute astonishment of all present.
Then proceeded to work my way through the bag with pretty much the same result (obvs there was a few that went awry, but far fewer than I was expecting or used to.
So my top tip to cure a chronic slice is to stop playing for a decade or so.
Astonishing golf in dreadful weather
The skill levels are amazing. Playing par golf in this is icredible
I once played a links like course (Pennard in South Wales) in driving rain and wind.
By the fourth hole the only thing I was counting was how many balls I had left in my bag. It was a war of attrition just to get round
Dan Brown tied 10th which is an amazing result and gives him an automatic exemption for next year .
Great result for Justin Rose in second and a wonderful win for Xander Schauffele with 7 birdies today.
He went from being the best player never to win a major to becoming a member of the rare club that wins 2 or more in a season
