That’s where I bought mine from. Only cost me £470 which seemed like good deal at the time and even more so now.
At £650 there should be some decent alternatives.

I would look for something with W10 Pro, and a bit nicer screen.
You won’t regret it.
or
but I prefer ThinkPads tbh
I use an old Lenovo, been very good indeed
Now my head is hurting
Buy a Lenovo. Choose your screen size - that’s a big personal preference. You want at least an i5 with 8GB RAM and an SSD. Buying refurbs saves a lot of money, but that may not be a factor if work is paying.
If you’re using this for working from home, I strongly recommend getting a large monitor, 23-27" or even larger. It’s a lot nicer working on that than on a laptop screen, no matter what laptop you get.
I bought one for these for WFH

I’m hijacking this thread I’m afraid . Following your helpful advice ablut a new / refurbed desktop that in the end I didn’t need, I now need some help as the wife probably needs a laptop for a new contracting job. I will probably go for Lenovo. Will go for at least i5, i7 would be nice. Budget £600-£800 including case and mouse.
After 15 mins of looking I’ve found this -

I love how laptop depreciation has changed from 60% in two years to about 30% in two years, in the last few months.
Dell Outlet
That makes me think I might buy a new one rather than refurb?
I bought a new Lenovo laptop last week for £540. Got it from Lenovo directly with a %10 off voucher (signed up to their spam) which made it over a hundred quid cheaper than Amazon.
Feels like a quality item.
I bought a lenovo laptop i5 about 9 months ago and it’s been great. My brother bought similar a few weeks ago, and no grumbles so far
As per title.
With two of us at home 24/7 there’s just too much contention on the one aging desktop.
I guess i5 or i7, must be festooned with USB A and C holes, must be able to accommodate an external monitor and keyboard + mouse if I fancy it.
I asked the wife for suggestions and she looked down her nose at me and said she didn’t do desktops
At least which brands should I be looking at?
Would £1k - £1.5k get me something nice?
Thanks in advance.
