I’ve heard those very speakers and his Animas too, he’s got them tweaked and set up very nicely :+1:

Or if you really want some fun, buy a big pair of JBLs, or Cerwin Vegas.

Unfortunately, quiet isn’t an option.

Just realised Vik’s away this weekend :joy: Jesus, that would be ‘putting it all on black’!

Sorry for thread hijack, I am actually suggesting the @downbeat buys these!

Treeongles all the way (or Direkts)

Is she taking the kids with her? Or is that when she sees your new speakers

I bought the pair of First Watt F4 amps he was using to drive the Marvels. The Marvels were ok (I thought the Primes I had sounded better) but the Animas were fantastic. He was running the Animas active with 8x Joe Henry amps.

Why would you have 8 amps for a three way? (6 mono channels)

separate subs (he didn’t have the subs yet though)

Hijack away! Like you, I think the footprint is too big. I showed the missus anyway, she made the sort of sound that even a caveman would’ve understood.

Japanman is in no way into this thread

These also on my list of speakers to demo, bit more wife-friendly and pretty impressive internal design

QA make £4K speakers? Although I see there’s a nice discount on them at the moment. Thanks for the link, I didn’t know about that place and it’s not too far from me.

If you want something different, you could try Acapella Violons. Had mine a few years now, lovely uncoloured horn presentation. Tune Marvel (which I had before the Violons) were extremely honky by comparison.

Loads of folk on here have heard mine both at Scalford and my place and the comments have always been very positive.

They look very nice but unless I start shitting diamonds…

£5 to 6k is about my limit and if it’s a passive option that will have to include an amp. Fanthorpes have Heresy’s in stock so I’m going to go listen, along with some Kef LS60’s to see if more modern dsp actives float my boat. Looking around it seems horns within budget and size/positioning constraints might be a no go. I think part of my issue is we’ve recently come to the end of 8 months of building work and decorating and the acoustics of the room seem to have changed. We’ve got a couple more sofas coming next week and I’m trying to find some absorption/diffuser panels that will look acceptable on the wall. I had hoped Heresy’s with a much bigger bass driver and a bit of colouration would counteract that, but reading comments here and elsewhere it seems they tilt things in the wrong direction. If extra furniture doesn’t work then I think I’ll need to find something a bit richer sounding.

The new Tannoy range is about that money (depending on model). Legacy Cheviot or similar. Might be worth a look.

Just buy a pair of these and you’ll have plenty of budget left to buy a sweet sounding amp to match them with -

I’d take them over Heresy or Tannoys in your budget any day.

Funny, I nearly heard these after Lopwell. The seller was doing Airbnb and mentioned the system in the ad. By the time I came to book the place had gone, though.
