Maybe fate is pointing you towards them?!
I wonder what the reserve is.

I’m trying to get rid of too many speakers now!
Are they happy up against a wall?
So, fate already has you making room for them!
I’ll be watching the auction to see what you get them for.
Others (owners) can give you more experience than I can offer but everytime I’ve heard these just plonked down in a room they have sounded very nice.
Define what you mean by ‘up against a wall’ - any room to create a gap at all?
I had mine about 1m from the wall and away from the side walls by about 1.5m but think they are still good closer.
I also liked them with some Aleph clones over the Almarro tube amp I had.
Depends how deep they are with the backwards tilt. Current speakers are 32cm deep and about 15 from the wall. Sidewalls are a fair distance away. I’m firing across the room, the way things are laid out if I fire down the length I end up sat in a null. I’ve had, for eg, Dyn Contours in here that needed at least 2 feet behind them and just not practical.
Sadly, the depth of the speaker and distance from wall are things I can’t really push.
You should be able to get a Mk1 or 2 Violon for that money, maybe even a tatty Mk3, but of course this doesn’t include the amp (but at least you’ll only need one )
these look lovely @Jim, didn’t think they would be available for that sort of money, seems I might have to drive to Italy to find a used pair though!
They sound great too. The combination of horn mid and plasma tweeter sets them apart from most other speakers. No, they don’t come up s/h too often, but I have seen them at that price.
Or you could get something that isn’t a HINO.
Ok then, I’ll take the bait What’s a HINO?
I reckon “Horn in name only” seems a likely guess?
I would suggest a speaker where you can fit it in the proposed listening space without massive building works, but…
Mine are currently 80cm from the rear wall (can’t move them closer right now) but can’t see it being a problem as they have down firing ports. As for the amp, as has been discussed in previous threads, my new EL84 does the job very well indeed.
Triangles tend to be front ported - I’ve had no issues with the few pairs I’ve had being close to the rear wall.
For £5k you could DIY some amazing horns. My whole system, a five way active, cost about half that.
scrub it, not even the same speakers they were trying to sell before.
Back wall – tick
Low volumes – tick (sort of)
Bass – tick
Emporium - ‘I’m out’
Yaaaawwwwwwwwnnnnnnn.
Those are my old L300 I p/x against the Tone Scouts so they work fine.
