Narelle had this…

We bought a bottle.

I had a local Fritz Waßmer Sauvignon Blanc which was fresh and zingy. Perfect with salt & pepper squid.

Only had a couple of other unmemorable tasters, then a full glass of the above as too many people and N gets aggrophobia.

Now sacked off. We were planning on a go/no-go call tomorrow but frankly it would be delaying the inevitable so that’s another set of NI tickets in the bin, I think the third lot this year, all due to circumstances beyond my control.

Well, you can actually get a refund but only of the cost of the flight, minus all the taxes and fees, so after talking to a nice chap in Indonesia for 20 minutes you get either thruppence ha’penny back or absolutely nothing

Also given the state of MiL it’s not entirely clear if the wife will be coming back when we were due to return. The local pubs are going to see an uptick in lunchtime business.

Brother went on holiday a couple of months ago. There is a service where you can drive your car to Heathrow and a bloke will meet you and put your car in safe storage til you come back for around £50.
Anyway said bloke doesn’t turn up and his mobile is turned off. Just by chance there is a bloke there who gives him a business card of a company who will step in. £220 later problem is sorted.
Sounds like a complete scam so be careful if thinking of doing this.

I don’t know why he didn’t get a cab as they are only 20 miles away from Heathrow . He was fuming and is trying to get his money back.

Returned to the scene of the crime today. A couple more unmemorable wines, and then these…

Fritz Waßmer Chardonnay for me, and an Oberkircher Spatburgunder Weissherbst Rose for N.

Both superb. 6 of each bought for delivery home :+1:

Next leg is Back to the Future!
Due to schedule changes, we now have to train it back to Colmar to collect a direct Luxembourg train.
I don’t like going back on myself but this was an easier option than 4 changes.
See you on the other side :backhand_index_pointing_right:

Finally arrived at the Grand Hotel Cravat.
High season but lobby bar closed. Not normally an issue except for the incessant rain ! FML !
No umbrella. No jacket. No nothing !

Found a lovely little brasserie around the corner though. Fuck this place is expensive !

An IPA, nice glass of Pinot Gris, a couple of burgers. Sent the burgers back as they were raw. Not rare. RAW!

They replaced the burgers, and they were VERY good. They didn’t charge us for the burgers, but the bill for two drinks each came to 70 Euros :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Still…it’s Luxembourg

You could fit my knowledge of Luxembourg on the back of a postage stamp but I’ve just realised that I know exactly where you are because we stayed one road back when visiting the wife’s cousin.

We kind of agreed that when we go back we’d probably stay in the upper part of the city, north of you, Limpertsberg area. It seemed to be more of a “locals” area, it was where cousin originally lived, and 4 drinks definitely didn’t cost €70.

Well rather similarly we are doing a bit of a road trip for 7 days. First two in Bruges then the others below. Nijmegen seemed a good mid point for Munster which is where the wife was born and spent her early years.
Not sure what to fill the last two days with to return to the Eurostar at Calais. Plus any suggestions for food/places to stay/beer and wine at any of the places greatly appreciated.

Bruges x2
Nijmegen
Munster
Luxembourg
?
?

Quite. France, but posh
