I’m getting increasingly fretty about this - first world problems I know. But given how stiff and wobbly I am at the moment, navigating a large unfamiliar station in 20 minutes might well leave me bollocksed.
The alternative is a 2hr20 change, arriving in Brussels 19.35, which is late but not a disaster.
I’ve already paid for the original tickets so my question / straw poll is: for €61.99 would you buy a backstop ticket now?
DB are wankers so the tickets are airline pricing and will only go up the closer I get to travelling. I assume that buying on the day if I miss my connection will be very ouchy indeed.
To answer my own question, I also asked a local friend
For anyone considering similar journeys
ICE trains are mostly punctual
The “DB Navigator” app mostly mitigates risk. You can get the usual information like platforms, and it recommends alternatives if you miss your connection
Nice to briefly be the most Southerly person on mainland Britain and to be at a latitude starting with a 49. I thought you couldn’t do it on the mainland & had to go to Scilly but apparently not.
Then on Tuesday up the W side of the Lizard taking in Poldhu Cove, Church Cove, Loe Bar, Porth Leven, Praa Sands (for a swim) and eventually the Minack theatre.
Mullion Cove, I can see a face on the right hand rock emerging from the sea and a sportsman on the larger rock to the right. Zooming in spoils the illusion, or is it just me and I need a jacket with long sleeves, straps and buckles.
Bye, bye, Bruxelles. You’ve changed significantly over the last 4 years and not for the better. You have to dig deeper and search more to get the best out of you now.
Too many burger joints, Italian restaurants, and much less “local” food with shorter beer lists.
We still enjoyed your charms though…
Nice to see visiting yachts flying the correct courtesy ensign.
I long ago ceased to be surprised at how many boats (including commercial shipping) fly the Union Flag rather than the Red ensign.
