Hi peninsula dwellers, thinking of booking a cottage in St Just. Are the major roadworks finished? How far south does the dual carriage go? Merci beaucoup.
I went down as far as Hayle a couple of weeks ago & I think it was all open & pretty much dual down to there. Below there it’s single whether you go straight down to Penzance and across or to St Ives & down the coast road.That stretch from St Ives down to St Just is one of my favourites, winding but with some great views.

Thanks Guy. When we were down there a couple of years ago it was total chaos with the roadworks.

A very good mate of mine lives in St Just, I’ve stayed in the town several times and the walk down the Cot Valley to the coast is delightful.

Plenty to see if you’re into rock bothering particularly with the dog in tow. Carn Euny (with underground chamber & elfin gold) Lanyon Quoit, Men an Tol & various other pre-historic stone circles. Porthcurno for a nice beach to look at & walk by. The Logan Rock Inn at Treen (nearby) does a nice lunch. Also (I haven’t been yet but will go) Nanzijal Bay about 1.5 miles SE of Land’s End. Not sure I’d bother with Lands End itself. Mousehole is nice to visit as are St Ives & Penzance. St Michaels Mount too although not sure what state it’s in since a big storm took many trees down a few weeks ago. Lucy Bakes for fabulous pasties, sausage rolls & much else in Hayle.
Botallack Mine on the coast about 1 mile NW of St Just is also worth a look. In fact, if you get a clear evening, it’s worth being on that coast as the Sun sets because the granite lights up orangey-pink just before the sun disappears over the horizon.

Amazes me that they can teach tortoises to snorkel.
Sounds like she’s having a great time. How long is she there for and has she had to rearrange her return trip?

She isn’t sure how she is getting back yet.

Get her do a diving course. Only a couple of days with PADI and really worth it.
I’m a retired BSAC instructor, she will love it.
