OK ?
Yup , JC is the man but so is she. Thread carefully .
More Than are apparently stopping home insurance now and suggested that Admiral would contact us. On the basis that due to massive incompetence previously my response to them would start with basic violence and also include the redirecting of sewer contents in their direction, who else is currently competent?
Oh, and unlike most on here Saga is not an option…
Haven’t made a claim for over 10 yrs so can’t comment how good any are but HSBC was the best quote I got for contents.
Policy Expert was by far the cheapest for me. Quite high excess, £450. That’s not of great concern to me as I would only likely claim in event of a major issue,
Had a very good experience with LV+ a couple of years ago when we had a flooding issue. Their premia are not ludicrous for Home and Contents.
Liked for that.
We are with them for motor, the milk float does cost some cash but I am fairly happy to pay a reasonable competence supplement.
Bloody hell. Our current insurers have thrown us out this year. Everyone I’ve looked at has either refused to quote or quoted £1500-£2000 as soon as I say “the roof isn’t slate or tiles”.
Halifax to the rescue - they only care about “wooden tiles or thatch”. £500.
I feel your pain.
And the wife got a further discount, I think because she has an account with the Halifax ![]()
Aviva can shove their £1860 up their bum.
Was not needed as the quote was, ahem, LessThan we paid MoreThan last year for equivalent cover.
Just had a renewal quote,
10% cheaper than last year!
Christ, renewal quote is £850 after paying £650 last year. I have to do the thing, FML.
Did you tell them about the building work? If so, that’s why, because of the increased risk. If not, then you should have, as most insurer’s t and c requires you to.
Yeah I realised when it was almost finished that I should have, but I didn’t. So they’re cunts.
Renewed last night car+building+contents all in with Aviva for £460
Contents includes legal cover and emergency call-out up to £1k and contents up to £200k and building is unlimited
Seems bonkers what they are offering compared to last year
That’s a really good price for them. They wanted £1k from us for buildings and contents last year. So I stayed with them for contents and went elsewhere for buildings and saved around £500.
That’s really good, I insure the car with the but will check out bundling it with household next time.
I don’t have any individual items worth more than £2k so I think that reduced it massively and didn’t include accidental contents/building damage or any personal items outside the house.
