Really basic filters so far, 2nd order at 3000Hz, 3dB Bafflestep and then a 2nd order at 85Hz to keep some of the sub bass out. Promising so far, will try and get some measurements to see what’s happening at the weekend! Old Frugelhorn cabinets being used as stands.

Having the RCA switch I made a few years ago is handy as I have put it between the B60 Pre/Power sections, meaning I can use it as a preamp and then switch between the Hypex/Scanspeak and B60 Power/KEF for a quick comparison, which is nice.

For a longer term plan for these little boxes, once I get the Volt drivers up and running, I found this great little all-in-one board. 4-Channel DSP, 4x 30wpc and Bluetooth aptX HD. These would be perfect for our Hobby/Dining room setup, mainly for Viv to stream to when sewing.

The big Volt driver project, still researching between lots of options, doing some reading up and read good things about the Beyma AMT drivers as an alternative to CD/Horns, just a bit spendy!

Been cleaning the remaining Volt 10" drivers.

Need to get some measurements to see how high to cross them which will drive the tweeter choice.

As an alternative to a 2" CD/Horn for a <1000Hz crossover, I’ve been looking into the Beyma AMT (£££) drivers and some of the alternatives, such as the GRS Planar Mid/Tweeters, could use a pair or even three a side in a Line Array. I did really like the Magnepan MMG when I had them, although the limited vertical dispersion was noticable, actually in real world listening not a deal breaker.

I have some Dayton AMT4 pro I could sell you?

Some testing on the Volt BM2500.4 drivers, pretty basic so far but an interesting comparison, bit of a discrepancy of 1-1.5dB between them, could try a bit more cleaning to see if they come together a bit closer.

Thanks Andy, I’ll continue to do some research and see where I get to!

Does exact position of the driver relative to the mic make a difference ? If you run a scan then take the driver away and then put it back and re-run the scan do you get exactly the same result ?

The measurement sums 4x sweeps together so accounts for any issues.

Were the four scans carried out without moving each driver ? If they were then that’ll get rid of scan-to-scan noise e.g. background noise getting into the mic. But if the signal at the mic depends critically on whether the mic is directly above the centre of the driver or not then what seems to be a difference between the drivers could just be a difference between where each one was placed relative to the mic.

I did not remove and then retest, the drivers were approximately in the same location and the mic did not move

Bit of progress on the mini-monitors/Mid-Tweeter part.

High Pass LR12 @ 3000kHz
Low Pass LR12 @ 2000kHz / -3dB BSC @ 760Hz & -2dB dip @ 1.2kHz

Left and Right speaker (taken at the same position, bit of mismatch, might try adjusting the stuffing)

New additions in a pair of HF10AK drivers from @keith1962

Is that a Seos horn Rob?

Yep, Seos 12, still debating between that and a Faital LTH102. I had a pair of the latter a few years back in this thread with a pair of Radian 475PB drivers.

I’ve got the 4x Volt BM2500.4 drivers ready now but really need to get to grips with Hornresp and bash out some mid-bass cabs! Would be rear loaded due to space constraints.
I think I’ve given up on the 2-way MTM Volt/Compression Driver plan, just not sure it’s going to work.

And then of couse, finally make my mind up what to do with the midrange. The Volts will do up to 1.2kHz but said to be best crossed over around 700Hz which leaves me a bit of a gap.
I’d love another pair of the Supravox 165 drivers, the AlNiCo 2000 versions are well out of my price range these days.

Still planning a 3-way using the Fusion FA123, with my Castle Subwoofer to cover the low bass.

Tweeter - HF10AK with Seos 12 or LTH102 ~1.5kHz>
Midrange - Mystery
Mid-Bass - 2x 16 Ohm BM2500.4 ~80Hz-700Hz
Active Subwoofer - Castle Classic Subwoofer <80Hz

What about these, Kev at definitive has got some for sale

I’ve just switched the Tone Scouts back to Beyma tweeters and I’m really impressed with them.

I’d really want something that would go lower for the midrange, either a 2" CD or a 6"-10" driver with decent efficiency (~94dB+).

May have found the mystery midrange option, I had a pair of Veravox 5S drivers, back in the previous house but can for the life of me find any reference to selling them (on forums or email), or find them since we moved. Also missing my clearaudio cartridge tracking force scales, really hoping there is a rogue box somewhere with some hifi bits in there…

I’ve been here >6 years now and I found a box 3 months ago that contained a Supex cart that I’d forgotten about.

I still have unopened boxes from that move
