How do you feel? (Part 1)

That was a mere seedling compared to the rainforest that this thing is going to cost.

If you remember the ‘magic money tree’ comment came from May after she was asked by a nurse when they could expect a payrise.
Hancock isn’t going to give them one either

They’ll find money for buildings cos that money will go to carillion-esqe firms, and for ventilators cos that money will go to shareholders too

Joey deacon… that’s a name from the past… wonder how many people on here remember him

Oh yes - calling someone a Joey and pretending to have slurred speech and uncontrolled limbs was the ultimate put down when I was at school in the early eighties.:frowning:

Kids eh!!!

I seem to remember him paired with Harry seacombe for the full insult.

Of course kids will be unspeakably cruel. They just learn to do it less honestly as they get older and move into politics or manglement

I think that was on just after C4 launched and literally every child in the country must have watched it.

Little did C4 know that shoolkids would use it as the definitive training manual on how to be an absolute bastard.

I don’t recall this at all, but looking into it, it appears to have stemmed from his appearance on Blue Peter as part of one of their annual appeals. I don’t think C4 even launched until a couple of years after he’d died in 1981.

I’m getting muddled up then. I thought I’d watched an early evening documentary on him. I thought Blue Peter was shite, so I’d be surprised if I watched it on there.

The Blue Peter thing would certainly account for the universal knowledge of him.

I remember seeing him on Blue Peter

I can remember it from when i was at school. Funnily enough when I moved to Newcastle , heard someone called a Spacker! Much to my amusement. Hadn’t heard that before.

A bit more off topic but can anyone remember this -

Daughter has had a temperature for a couple of days, and was up much of the night with a persistent cough. Today she’s fine. Odd, really…

Syrup made of electrical tape… Amazing he made it to 60.

This doesn’t bode well. It’s fairly uncommon for these sort of infections to jump from species-to-species. We can afford to lose a lot of humans… Tigers, not so much.

Once this thing gets established in Delhi, Mumbai, joberg etc I suspect we will indeed lose a lot of humans. I expect the powers that be to not give a shit either

Be interesting to see how that plays out - people who live in impoverished, overcrowded, unsanitary conditions without access to healthcare tend to have pretty strong immune systems - or they don’t see adulthood. It’s one of the undocumented but probable factors involved in China’s lower-than-expected death rate.

Be interesting to see if we’ve encountered a bug that disproportionately affects the (relatively) rich population…

I remember Channel 4 showing a feature film about a bloke with mental disabilities in it’s first few days on air. Cba googling it.
