Good to see you mate albeit for very sad reasons.
Seems to me that given their piss poor reactions to the unfolding pandemic, the government policy is simply to spread the deaths over a longer period.
The government’s response to the crisis reminds me, more than anything, of that bit in Apocalypse Now when Kurtz asks “Are my methods unsound?” and Willard replies “I don’t see any method at all, sir”
Spot. On.
Also, the closing paragraph of that piece is excellent.
They don’t give two fucks about what happens to us - we’re just one big experiment for Cummings et al. The fucking BBC are more concerned about how that cunt Johnson is than the fact that 938 people died yesterday.
I no longer pay attention to BBC news. It is unbalanced.
I don’t either normally but yesterday was worthy of a Sun front page.
Meanwhile Hedgefundcunts Inc. are making millions.
Yay capitalism.
" I’m not saying the Labour leadership election went on too long, but human civilisation ended in the middle of it."
There will be unscrupulous cunts who go over the maths of taking in such C19 patients, and if it means more £££, they will.do it.
45 minutes on the UK’s response, which generates more light than heat. A rare commodity.
Bit clunky in places (skip) as they explore the format, but packed with the expertise that seems to have gone missing currently. Some thoughts on why that might be so.
Recommended counter to prior expectations; certainly better than anything from No 10.
Care for the elderly and pensions are the biggest costs in most western economies. More than one economist/official will have looked at the age profile for Covid deaths and done a mr burns.
The BBC get a lot of stick on here, much of it deserved, but this opening to Newsnight, delivered by Emily Maitlis, is more like the standard of reporting we should be getting as the norm, rather than the exception.
In different times this would be prime material for the Local News thread.
This. Coupled with what is looking like a policy of neglect for the occupants and staff of care homes which is utterly shameful.
It’s OK, they’re not on social media.
Boyle has an unerring knack of hitting his targets - this made me laugh out loud
“I suspect Johnson’s baby will be exhausted when it comes out. Having spent months evading his cock like a magician’s assistant dodging swords in a box.”
This is one home around the corner from me. It is a wonderful purpose built facility which I visited a couple of times last year to talk to the residents. Sadly residents and particularly the staff have been more than decimated (in the classical sense). Two-thirds of the staff are off ill or are self-isolating. It cannot be unique.
