How do you feel? (Part 1)

Why does anyone need a passport at the moment? Let alone in a hurry

When and how to get staff back into the workplace are questions employers will increasingly have to grapple with across the UK.

Nail. Head.

I remember thirty-odd years ago discussing job safety with people who worked at Aldermaston, where they faced some quite exotic hazards. I remember one of the senior guys saying that as a rule of thumb they aimed for the risk of coming to harm at work to be tens of times lower than the risk of coming to harm on the journey to and from work. It’s always seemed like a good place to start.

Once it gets in, it’s going to spread like wildfire in those places. Insufficient PPE, insufficient staff, probably very little training for infectious disease and in many cases, underpaid staff with young kids at home so a further depleted workforce. And in many cases owned by very nasty greedy prople

About sums it up

And this lot really do never miss an opportunity to get into the trough… don’t they all get an allowance for a constituency office and Westminster office already?

I honestly think there is no answer to the care home thing. It’s tragic, but I can’t possibly see how it could be mitigated.

I find this equally moving, endearing and somehow joyful.

I fear you may be right

Also, a lot - sometimes all - the residents are suffering with dementia in these homes. It is impossible to socially distance them, unless you were going to lock them in a room for the duration. Which in itself is a cruelty, let alone completely impractical.

Be interesting to see how many claim it… I’m sure the usual suspects will have the lot , and the other usual suspects will claim the bare minimum if any

Wonder how many homes are having to shield a vulnerable one at home

In the states its a massive amount, even when the so called lockdown is over, can see many not going back to work

I think the point of Wes’s tweet is that the MPs themselves have all this stuff. It’s their interns and volunteers that sometimes don’t have it. But I take your point, duck ponds 2.0

I’m sure a lot of MPs could pay for a few hundred quids worth of IT out of their own pockets too but they will be the ones that claim I’m sure

You would do very well on social media

Nah, my arse and lips are too small

Same for us working in the community. We still have family going in and also some of our clients are still going to see friends and family as they simply cannot remember not to due to dementia

Also I’ve seen serious decline in mental health as those who go out regularly are having their routines taken away. Chatting to an OT the other day and she confirmed they were also seeing the same thing. Covid19 may not get them but the quicker progression in their dementia will.
