Trying to absorb the certainty of 3-10 more waves of infection after this primary wave abates.
Some people I’ve spoken to expect there to be a shift in our daily lives (Work, economy, priorities etc) when lock-down is eased. However, if what we are experiencing from the Pandemic is the first installment of 10 fundamental change seems inevitable. What also appears clear is that we acted too late and will need to rapidly and vigorously adopt the Korean approach of testing / tracking and isolation to manage ‘flare ups’ as they inevitably occur.
Yes it’s utterly criminal how this and previous governments have not only crippled our first defence against what everyone and their dog KNEW would be the next big threat but also how they handled things when that threat manifested.
As for re-using PPE? well i’m in 2 minds about that, as my wife works in ‘red wards’ and a&e, I want her to have the best PPE available. If it’s not, ANY PPE is better than none. It’s still something that I’d love to see past and present ministers responsible brought to trial over, along with a deep financial dive to discover exactly how each minister profited from the outwardly dismal decisions taken.
I want ministerial fucking blood, I want cunts clapped in irons and sent down for mass murder. I want a whole new supermax, lord of the flies, battle royal style, prison built to put them in. If you need to televise it with that geordie bloke from big brother blathering over the top to finance it then fine.
Agreed. They have to be held to account.
Re-use of PPE?
Do any of these cunts actually understand the very basic principles of infection control? Answer - nope!
‘Oh well we fucked up procuring enough equipment to protect our front line staff who are most exposed to the virus, so lets go on the Gov NHS website and suddenly change all the fucking guidance to reflect that we failed them so badly’
I kid you not - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-infection-prevention-and-control/covid-19-personal-protective-equipment-ppe
But…they won’t be. They make the laws, and they obviously won’t self incriminate.
…and vote themselves another pay rise

How many ministers today would spend a shift in a red ward with inadequate PPE?
Only the fucking stupid ones… oh hang on…
How many would know what a red ward was? They’d only visit in a hazmat suit for the photo op. I wouldn’t be volunteering to visit either but I’m not telling thousands of people I denied a pay rise to suck it up
Goose / Gander.
Certainly the Govt ballsed it up in many aspects of this. Not least being very slow to lockdown, when all the evidence seemed to point to this being required. Giving up on tracing also. PPE and care homes also have been a bloody mess. Vallance banging on about herd immunity…
But, although I don’t agree with the giant man-baby Donald, questions are going to have to be asked about the Chinese government & WHO. The WHO were still arguing against travel restrictions late January, and were not critical enough of the situation in China with regards to trying to get information.
And as for the Chinese Govt, they need to be aware of their responsibilities globally, that they need to be transparent with these health issues, if they want to continue to be integrated with the rest of the world. Trying to cover it up and silence those who blew the whistle has killed many, and brought the economies of the world to a drastic state. We can’t do this every few years. I believe the wet markets continue to operate.
I am fully aware of the sheer amount of manufacturing and imports from China, and due to Brexit we will have to suck up to them so they buy from us in return, but maybe a rethink is required about how we live in future. So give the Govt a kicking, but also the WHO & Chinese Govt.
As I said, i wouldn’t volunteer - but I’m not telling other people to get on with it either. If Matt Hancock wants to tell nurses they have enough kit then he should back it up.
Hancock probably wouldn’t do it because he wouldn’t have the guts to watch people die when better decisions on his part might have saved them.
But on a point of detail about the PPE, he’s had the disease of course, so even with no PPE he’d be unlikely to be at huge risk.

We can only control our own affairs, and the government is doing a very poor job of it, at our expense. They should all be kicked out of office, and beaten to death, by all the people they let down, let alone, the ones they killed.
Yes, killed. They could have prevented many, many of these deaths.
Don’t be stupid Greg. I’m sure you don’t mean the first part.
He has had Covid, he might well think he is immune so would go, he is already immune to the consequences of his actions
They should certainly be called to account for their actions & decisions. But do we let the Chinese Govt & WHO off the hook? If we do, we learn nothing from this.
We take care of our own affairs first, protect what we can, use the information that is available, and do our own research, to the best of our ability and resources, and then, look elsewhere.
Trying to blame someone else for your own inadequacies, is just covering up your own inability to do your job.
The mistakes by this government have been enormous, and we should not let it be forgotten. nor let them get away with it.
