We have a week in the highlands booked for the last week of July- we booked it early in the year and we have the option of changing the dates to next year- it looks like we will almost certainly be technically able to go at that point in time, but it just doesn’t seem worth it at the moment…

Who the fuck are these 15%? Total despair…

Actually, you can probably lump the “no change” and “don’t know” lots into the same bucket of arseholes which is fucking depressing.

It’s quite a misleading question. The last government survey in 2014 concluded:

“An estimated 70 per cent of all flights in 2013 were taken by just 15 per cent of the population, with 57 per cent of the population taking no flights abroad”

I am probably one if the 15% in terms on no of flights, and I hope to fly less.
Whilst the 57% who never fly may conclude that life is too short and it’s time to get out there and see what it’s all about

well looks like I am arsehole in your book, being in the “dont know” category.

I’m a definite 49%er.

Arseholes. You get my point.

I rarely fly and on the few occasions I do it’s for work. So, the amount that I fly may change but it’s somewhat out of my control. I suspect we will fly less at work.

I was assuming that the question reflects what people want to happen rather than what they expect. So yeah, I was probably reading way toI much into it because of my own personal biases.

Arseholes.

We don’t fly that much. When we do it’s usually Longhaul. That ain’t changing unless all my family and friends die in a Post Trump Nuclear Holocaust.

What European destinations we can’t (reasonably) reach by car, flying there will continue.

Ditto, except we will continue to fly to Dublin because I am never going to Hollyhead again in my life. A place so shit you are actually chuffed to get on the ferry.

I wouldn’t judge anyone for that. Personally, I don’t think it’s fair to make individuals make those kind of choices. It has to be incentivised sufficiently or enforced, for e.g carbon rations argued for by Mayer Hillman and others. Also, it needs to be done in a way that is equal and doesn’t just allow people that can afford it to bypass the measures.

Similarly, it’s not realistic to expect companies to act altruistically - they have to act selfishly within the constraints of the law.

It is often economic choices.
I was supposed to be going on a golfing holiday near Faro this year.
Return flight form Gatwick (including golf clubs) was £158 (transfers included in golf hotel package)

Why would I take an extra two days off work and pay fuel and a nights accommodation + channel crossing?
