From one who was indoctrinated as a left footer may I say, most fucking definitely, that that confirms He does, indeed, move in the most mysterious and sarcastic way.
This mortal, on the other hand, just choked on a mouthful of wine :wine_glass::+1::grin::grin:

Sat in a Primary Care regional covid-19 planning meeting yesterday, don’t worry lads Matt Hancock and his gormless Chief Medical Officer have got this :man_facepalming:

They are presenting (as far as the public are concerned) a science/evidence based response. Is that not really how it’s working?

I’m reluctant to post this, because I don’t have time to trawl through the BBC to find the actual reports, so it will sound like rumour, but I have heard two people on the radio (one a patient, one a GP) independently say that the official advice, which is to call 111 if you suspect you may have the virus, is no longer effective. They are overwhelmed to the point that the phone might take hours to be answered, if at all. Going online to the 111 service should work better. But the most vulnerable are older people who are less likely to be able to do this, especially if they’re not feeling well.

We have decided to build a health service which has negligible slack. The inevitable consequence of that is that it will struggle to deal with load peaks. Making reassuring noises and giving ineffective advice will actually help, a little, by lowering people’s tendency to panic. This will be the case whether the noises/advice are true or not. So the government will say they’re in control whether or not they are.

Doesn’t surprise me. I’ve just had pretty awful 3-day cold which as usual has gone on to my chest. I’m mildly asthmatic.

Those symptoms are pretty much identical to covid but I’m fairly sure I’ve not got the virus because although I had the shivers and felt hot and cold I don’t think I was running an actual temperature.

It must be an absolute nightmare for 111 right now.

Hopefully not!
