Let’s hope so
Ugh lockdown isn’t helping.
My M7 isn’t helping much at the moment either!
Still having hum issues? Did you try (temporarily!) lifting the earth?
No I haven’t.
I will give that a go.
I have switched the pre-amp section back on in the CA 851N streamer and connected the output direct to the power amps. No hum.
Digital only at the moment!
Cool, let me know if that helps.
@thebiglebowski M7 had bad hum problems which were due to the various bits of the chassis not being properly earthed.
Separating the various parts of the chassis, some abrasion on the exposed copper and a new star washer before reassembly and things improved hugely.
Did you change any of the earthing topology?
yes, the phono and line sections are now each star-earthed, with the earths running together through the centre between the channels, rather than separate around the outsides, in an attempt to shorten the hum loops, which is quite a change and may have improved resolution, but the casework thing is what really sorted the hum out
you can just about see the earth wires on this picture, look for the blue enamel covered silver wires clustered between the channels in the line and audio sections
That’s the one I had although I didn’t pay anything near £3k for it new.
don’t know, I never had a Line Magnetic
162 W into 8 Ω
Can’t think of anything less appropriate
I didn’t read the thread closely Kev. Plus I’m not technically minded. I just saw a nice integrated from a good British brand and thought it might or might not be of interest.
Haha
I obviously wsn’t thinking hard enough
Not trying hard enough Tristan
A proper forum recommendation would have been to get new speakers
Becoz Mumsnet reasons.
Tis the way.
